Chaos Corona for Cinema 4D > [C4D] Bug Reporting
Regular Freezes
(1/1)
Sebastien17:
Hi everyone,
I worked for years with C4D 2023.2.0 and Corona 9, and it was remarkably stable — no freezes or crashes at all.
About a year ago, I decided to upgrade both C4D and Corona to their latest respective versions, and that’s when the problems started.
Now, I can't work for more than an hour without experiencing a freeze (both C4D and Corona freeze, and the only option is to restart C4D).
I’ve reinstalled everything multiple times and updated all my drivers.
My system:
- Windows 11
- Ryzen 9 7950X
- Nvidia RTX 4090
- 64 GB RAM
I reinstalled C4D 2023.2, but I couldn’t find Corona 9 on the Chaos website — only Corona 12 for C4D 2023. Unfortunately, the issues persist.
Not sure if this helps identify the cause, but the freezes typically happen when I try to load several materials from the Material Manager into the Node Material Editor, or when I load a map (a JPEG from my computer) in the Material Editor. However, the freezes also occur in many other circumstances. The software is becoming nearly unusable, and I’m unsure what steps to take next.
Does anyone here know what might be causing this?
Thanks!
Sébastien

You can download Corona 9 and older here: https://www.chaos.com/corona/cinema-4d/download/old
It's hard to tell what might be causing the freezes. When it happens, you should be able to capture a minidump using the Process Explorer app. See here for instructions: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4648898278545-How-to-report-issues-C4D#h_01FDY55JCQMR188S36A1F0SS1T
You can then send us the minidump at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Then we may be able to find out what exactly is freezing.
