Maru - what CPU does your laptop have? These are 'U' series low-wattage CPUs with a max TDP of 15W :)
But I agree, I believe it's throttling. I'll test the scene later today to confirm.

On a side note - SP3 only has a 'balanced' power plan exposed to the end user. A quick registry modification can unlock the high-performance plan, which is what I will be using. Beautifully enough - XTU can also overclock the CPU quite freely too (I can go all the way to 3.9GHz, I think, the last time I tried). I'll try the scene with a small USB fan to reduce throttling and these performance settings in mind.

Hmm, in theory these low-wattage CPUs should do better than this one (looking at transistors/year/frequency). I'd guesstimate 5-10min. What was the benchmark time on yours, 19min?

Argh, just checked, it was 19min. I was sure it was 15. Sorry for the confusion!

No worries, happens :)
I'm actually quite interested in comparing the results between my overclocked i7-4700MQ running at 3.65GHz and that SP3 i7 dual-core.

This seems a bit off when an overclocked 6-core i7 get s a better score. Is a 12-core Xeon not as powerful as it used to be?

I think this topic should be locked. It brings confusion and makes more harm than good. Hopefully there will be new benchmark sooner rather than later which will lets to compare on equal conditions.

Maybe. Let's wait for others' opinion.

You should chek if the hypertreading is on.

We have 5 of X5650 runs perfect and 40-50% faster than 3990K

Your 4790 should run faster than that - mine is OC to 4.5Ghz but yours should still be running benchmark @4.4Ghz (if stock)
