Title: Nissan GT-R 2017 [Full CG]
Post by: FactotumPictures on 2017-05-02, 17:22:36
Hey guys! We want to share with you our newest portfolio work. Nissan GT-R 2017 in snowy mountains. For this beast we prepared fully CGI shots.

RENDERING
For this scene we used corona renderer 1.6. It works amazingly well when using for automotive visualisation.
MATERIALS/TEXTURES
Entire project was made from poliigon.com textures. It shows the variety of textures that the site is offering. Snow textures works great for close parts of the scene but also for mountains that are far away. We also used road, cobblestone, overlay and rock textures. On top of that site is offering amazing HDR which we used to light up the car and scene.
TERRAIN
Terrain is fully CG and we modelled it in World Machine. We also baked the diffuse texture for mountains but instead of using it as diffuse we used it as mask to sepperate the rocks from snow. Then we created shaders for snow and rocks using poliigon textures and used mask from world machine.
Most of the terrain and road is also sculpted in ZBrush to achieve even more detail.

For both renders we used HDRI with Corona sun. Output was 4k.

Great scene and a beautiful render. Those lights are so hypnotizing :D love it!

You could have added some snow dirt on side skirts and inside wheel arches for added realism :)

For both renders we used HDRI with Corona sun. Output was 4k.

How do you typicall combine them? do you leave 1 at default and lower say the sun intensity? or do you lower both hdri and sun to blend them?  I think what I see mostly is people using hdri for global lighting, but because they often are quite soft, people add a sun with like 0.02-5 intensity just to get harder shadows on top?

I'm just curious, images looks great!
