Title: Material Library
Post by: aaouviz on 2019-11-07, 11:22:15
Is anyone else having issues with material library in Corona 5?

I was using the Release Candidates with no problem, but overnight I installed the full release and now it's telling me I do not have the Material Library installed (even though it was definitely ticked during installation and in the installation log it says it is installed.)

What can I do?

Edit: Windows 7, Max 2018.

Edit 2: I've uninstalled and re-installed Corona, still same issue.. grr.

Nope, works fine here. Although i'd gladly loose it - having to download 1,4GB each time for something i never use, is no fun.

Well, as someone who does use it, and relies heavily on it, it's killing my work today not having it.

Also, surely you can just untick it at installation?

Yes, you can, but you have to chose custom installation for that, something i would like to avoid when installing every single daily build and sometimes also going back and forth between different final versions.

P.S. sorry for interrupting your bug report.

Hi,

Can you check that it is indeed present in C:\Program Files\Corona\materials?

Cheers,

Rowan

Hi, thanks.

It is not there...

Hmm

Hi,

That's interesting, can you try to install Corona again and make sure that the checkbox for the material library is checked, and if there are any error messages displayed in the installer during installation?

Are you letting the installer download the material library or using the offline file?

Thanks,

Rowan

having to download 1,4GB each time

You should download it once as a separate file and place it alongside the installer, it would use the local copy instead of downloading it. You can also cancel the installer when it starts to download, then it continues/ends without the material library.

Good Luck

Downloading separate file would only help if material library wasn't updated by Corona team, right?

I wasn't aware of that, thanks! Is it safe? I mean, wouldn't that make installation corrupt by chance?

My terrible internet is currently slowing me down, but I saw this corrupt note in the install log

(still downloading btw, so I can't tell you quite yet if this fresh re-install has worked)

The installer always uses the local file if present and does no version check afaik, at least until now (means: have not tested lately). So if you have an old library locally it would just install that old one. But just deselecting the material library in the installer custom options should work for you, doesn't it? If deselected, no download should happen. If it it does, it's a bug.

Is it safe?
It's designed to work this way afaik (despite the message you get), so it should be no problem. Here again: it has never been one for me in the past :) I would nevertheless recommend to either have the single file already locally to use for various installations (or dailies) or to deselect the material library in custom install if you don't want to download it.

Good Luck

Well, that's the problem - i don't want to have material library in max at all, but i don't want each time to do custom installation either :/ Same goes for luts and ies'es that are bundled with Corona. Couple weeks ago i installed demo version of Fstorm and was blown away how quick installation process was, i just pressed NEXT couple times and it's already in.

Hi,

The installer should remember your preferences from the previous installation, so if you deselect what you don't want to be installed once it should not be installed again.

Cheers.

it does. thanks for checking up.

I had to manually create the materials folder and then it seemed to work fine.

Hi,

I'm glad it works now, maybe there were some issues with permissions. Did you run the installer as administrator?

Cheers

Please also note that Corona 4 used other files than Corona 5 for the material library and NVIDIA denoiser.
