Hello, how can i make Fibre Optic Star Ceiling , THX for help.
-
just scatter little (hemi)spheres (or whatever shape fits best) with corona light material.
-
Well, I can see two super simple options:
-Create the dark "base" material, then plug a map with some white spots to the self illumination slot
-Create the "dark "base" material, then plug a map with some black spots to the opacity slot. Then place a simple Corona Light above this plane.
The 1st method will give you some small illumination, but it probably won't be even visible in the render.
The 2nd option may give you some illumination from the light, so it may be the slower/worse one.

emissive geo. particles were my choice here
easy to set, better to control (colors, density, illuminance), interactive & can be developed further...

That would break CScatter's instancing and you would end up with hundreds or even thousands light groups - something you wouldn't want in Corona. Maru's method with light material on a single plane, would be much better solution.

thank you for your help, appriciate it.

didnt know that!
i used this method in a project on a very large ceiling and it worked just fine - didnt notice any drawbacks.

It would work fine with "emit light" disabled.
Otherwise scattering a lot of lights is not a good idea indeed. :)
