[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Animation - losing frames
« on: 2020-08-10, 16:51:11 »
We'd need more info please - when you say lost, what do you mean? The frames are being saved to disk, (ie save file is enabled, and a filename and filepath given)? Are they there to start with, then get deleted? Your screen shot just shows the PV render history, and I don't know much about that personally (never use it as a way to check frames, I always save them to disk)

Also of course, Corona version, C4D version, OS version, etc.

EDIT - also, were you using Team Render at all, or was this all just one local machine?

Hey Tom, thanks for your reply!
Yes, the .mov-file has a file saving path.

Update on the strange frame-behavior from yesterday: when the rendering of all frames is completed, the first 22 frames that - as you see, first disappeared - reappeared again in the end.

So, I guess the system kind of deactivates them during the render process... for whatever reason. Maybe to save RAM? I can't really imagine this.
I have seen this strange behavior also on former test renderings in much lower resolution, that take much less RAM, etc.
So I guess it might be a bug in C4D? Or in Corona?

System: C4D R21, Corona V5
OS catalina 10.15.
Mac Pro 2019 16 core, 3,2 GHz, 48 GB RAM, Radeon Pro W5700X 16 GB

Rendered only on one machine, no TR.

Again... frames lost.

This time despite having switched off computer sleep mode / screen saver, etc.

Dunno if this is a Corona problem or related to C4D ???

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Animation - losing frames
« on: 2020-08-09, 13:13:46 »
Hey guys out there.

Anyone experienced losing a bunch of frames during animations?

From 200 frames, this morning 106 were simply gone. No chance to recover them.

Pretty angry!

Update: I erased the whole plants from the scene and copy-pasted them again.

Now Corona seems to not crash anymore when animating.

I hope it will stay like this...

This morning C4D was already started when staring the computer.

Now a scene is constantly crashing when I start the animation render.
Worked fine before !

I am in the middle of a huge job and the client is waiting.

Thanks for this stress again. What the heck is that ???
We pay for this product, we have reported this problem since weeks and what happens?

Crazy, how great. realistic & aesthetic!

How do you get that translucency in the leaves?

I always try in C4D... but never get that effect.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the best method or not, but what I usually do is plug the sky into a color correction (and lower exposure to about -2) which is then put into my 'direct visibility' environment override.

I think this is a goo start for you at least...

I'd love to hear how others deal with this too.

Yes, that's how I also deal with this.

However, manipulating the sky in the override slot too much - so that it does not correlate with the light colors coming from the actual HDR -  is very quickly visible in a render... starts looking artificial.
That ´s what you see in a lot of exterior arch viz.
Then the scene starts to look like a collage...

I'd spend a holiday there anytime.

Suggestions: Pattern on the wall behind the bed maybe a bit bigger and less strong.
The wood ceiling dominates and looks heavy in the picture composition.
More focus should be on the bed... a few color accents, some special detail.
A cable for that lamp and don't put the carpet over its foot. :)

Generally looks cool.

Tested it in Laubwerk - SurfaceSpread.
Same thing here. Doesn't show up in the IR.

C4D R21, OSX 10.15.2 / Catalina.

Chamfers on those razor sharp wall edges would be good.
Think about that light mood again... it lacks contrast... even if it is an evening shot.

Thanks I'll pass the comments back to the 3D artists. I know they've discussed the fingerprints thing before and it's been agreed that very minimal use is fine, but they have been distracting and occasionally overused in the past.

Fingerprints on polished surfaces is another one of those trends (much like messy beds) - super popular in CGI, but in reality as a photographer you would wipe the fingerprints off before taking the shot - especially for such a close up on a product!

Strong work as always.

Finger prints I mentioned just as an example. In reality such polished surfaces always have some kind of micro impurities - even if it is just from cleaning and wiping the cleaning stuff away, a bit of variation in the reflection.
Too perfect - like in 3D - is always like "wait minute" for the eye. :))))

Also: most faucets are cast metal, not CNC machined. So the surface is often a bit uneven. Easily to recreate the effect with a scaled up bump map that distorts the reflections.

Close to perfect.

Have a look at that faucet again. Too sharp edges with zero radius and you should leave a tiny gap between faucet & counter top or put a radius or chamfer on the contact edge.
Also a tiny bit of finger prints on such metal stuff makes it look more real.
That plant has some pretty jagged edges. Why?

The marble looks like an imitation. Is it like this in the real, actual kitchen?

The rest is cool ! Compliments.
