A lot of people really need to grow up. It's software, it's business not a sport team to follow!

ChaosGroup are good, Corona will be in good hands.

Hey dubcat, is there a way to apply your luts in photoshop?

You can apply it through the Color Lookup layer. It works really well if you make it 50%. It gives a super nice contrast to exterior and interior renders I've tested to.

THe LUT looks great for interiors, but with harsh sun + sky system it really is too much contrast and shadows are massively crushed. Does it work for anyone else?

We look forward to it. Maya has a big future.

From memory you will have to select the materials you want to convert first.

Unfortunately I do not use Corona at all anymore so I think there is no time for me to modify the script.

Tehcnically a really good image, but the cg skyscraper is slightly crooked and with the road as a major foreground - to me - it makes the image a little unbalanced. I think the photo is straight but maybe if the CG part was straight too it would help. :)

It is very slight, but most prominent on the right side of the skyscraper.

Thanks Haggi.

Photographic exposure crash for me too - it is a UI bug. Maya 2016.

edit: cool you really did a lot of work on region rendering. :)

Nice and noise free, would like to see more "contrast" with the shadows and light but it is very clean.

NIce scene Rick. Thanks for writing, it was a good read.

With 2016 I notice it is faster with VP2. So maybe there is hope.

They also had a new trick with VP2 and textures called parallel loading. Basically it doesn't work for me,  but in their demos it shows the textures loading while the user is working with the scene so you can do two things at once and not have to wait until the textures are loading before working with the scene. Not sure if they sped up the loading of just geo only (which sounds like your issue) but allegedly textures was supposed to load faster although this didn't work for me on a quadro. VP2 is painful to work with but it will be a lot better in the long run.

Wow? Really? I always found translation times to slow down very large with many instances in Maya. I read somewhere it is an unfortunate flaw in the way which nodes work in Maya. Maybe it got better

Unfortunately Sun + Sky does not work also as it produces inaccurate result and incorrect shadows, so your choices for lighting changes are limited at this early stage.

What you could do is group the entire scene (cameras too) and rotate the scene instead. It's the only workflow for now but does HDRI even work? Last build it did not work as of yet.

This is very much in the way that scandinavian architecture is photographed in my opinion, very high key almost bleached look but this is very well done. I do not think it is bright at all, and you have lifted the blacks too which is even closer.

Very good work.
