I’m working on an outdoor night scene with a dense fog. It looks good overall but it’s hard to get rid of the noise. I have a vague memory of some render settings to tweak to handle noise better, but I can’t seem to get it right.

I’m using a global multi-bounce volume, corona sky and a handful of lights.

I played around with GI vs AA Balance and Light Samples Modifier and it seemed to work pretty well for noisy fog. I ended up using these values:

GI vs AA Balance 24
LSM 1.5

The idea being that direct light remains almost the same, while GI is upped quite a bit. The slight noise that remains can be cleared up by Gigapixel AI.

I will try 32/1 next time to see if there’s any notable difference.
