Dear all fellow Corona users,

hope it is ok to open a thread here, as we are Corona users and all is with and for C4d & Corona Render, so it might be interesting for some i hope.
i feel very happy to be finally able to show you here our  new things and updates we have made in many nights and evenings:

1) Our new update 3dtools.info site, it includes many c4d and Corona related useful things, like Materials/Textures, Assets, a new 3dmarketplace, cool C4d plugins and the most used C4D render engines.
beside the new look, we also adapted the pricing, and try to offer as fair as possible prices for all.
Hope you like our new site, we tested it deeply, but if you find some thing not working for you, please PM me in case so we can look at it and improve it.
We also started a new 3d marketplace, where we can offer smaller things at very affordable prices. As we work mostly on Corona most we make is Corona compatible from start.

2) I want to highlight our newest Corona compatible high res, 8k, seamless, photo and/or scan based DNA|MATERIAL SETS (PBR texture sets). The Materials are focused on Architectural work, but can be also used for designers, staging etc. All Materials are all hand processed, by humans, nothing like substance, but from our real world photo scans, using our own special developed inhouse DNA tools and technique, which enable us to offer great real world mats, in great detail, variation and big surface sizes (5-10m square mostly). All derived from real world surface sources.

A great a Chaos Cosmos is, we feel there is yet a lot of room for high quality materials and assets, and as we love to make them we are happy to offer them to all other users.

We have redone the existing ones and added several new volumes and bundles. - Despite the detail and material quality, we try to offer them at VERY FAIR prices, partly 1 Euro or less per full Material/ texture set if bought in a Bundle! We do understand times are difficult for many atm, so we try to reflect that best possible. So the bundles are available at a special price atm, so if you want some it is now a good time to save a bit money.

They ALL include free extra ready to use shader material presets made for Corona 9/10. The presets come also with 1 click import assets sets for the new C4D asset browser with nice custom previews, this is one of my favourite work flow enhancements, i use the materials myself via the c4dasset browser now, where one can simple choose and drag and drop them into the scene or onto objects.

Here you find all DNA|Material Textures:  https://3dtools.info/dna-materials-01

Here you find our C4d and corona compatible plugins: https://3dtools.info/dna-plugins

And here a preview of all Mega Bundles Titles available (for more details see the pdf links below):

We continuous work on our Architectural Materials and have several new bundles and Volumes in work atm. Tor example Stone walls and Floors, Plaster, Plain Wood, Asphalt coming as next!

More info you find at our 3dtools.info site, or also feel free to as me here or via PM or email. (contact email is on 3dtools.info page)

Best greetings
Stefan

p.s.: here also direct links to the material pdfs so all can easy see an overview (for best quality download them, for some reason google drive seems to compress them them extra if viewed direct online):

Just got these. Did not expect much since usually these asset packs are not all that great.

But these are in fact. Just tested the shingles. CR materials seem to be set up really well even though not too complicated. See a quick one minute render screenshot.
Happy I got these. Thanks.

great, i am happy you like them:)

i would reduce displacement height a bit, for the model size, (and maybe set to linear color profile if you havent yet) :)
otherwise looks great!

yes, we put a lot of passion and work in this materials, they are made for our use use also, i use them myself every day in my projects.
next coming surfaces are plaster, stone walls and floors and terrazzo floors.

we also take surface wishes in case, if we find a matching source we can make them

cheers

Stefan

I will surely buy some more. Concrete and plaster I use a lot as well.

In my project I have a lot of rough sawn timber which is almost knotless. Platowood Fraké. See attachment. I haven't found any textures on the web with fine or rough sawn surfaces.

I am not aware what a lineair color profile would do or how to set that. I do play with the displacement depth in regard to model size. I also noticed you set the bump at only 2%. Is that still useful. I never really see much result in my materials below 10 or 20%.

My Mac book air with 16Gb M2 has one problem with these materials. C4D after the second render crashes with an enormous amount of ram swapped. Over 500Gb...  When I render you textures at about 3600 pixels wide. I will try next week with my Mac Studio 128Gb.

glad i could solve it fast for you:)

for the ram, many 8k textures in many material channels do use some ram, you can try using the textures in 4k and only in close ups 8k, with 128 gig it should be no problem. (my have 96gb, works also fine)

With 128Gb no problem indeed. But its weird that with 16Gb ram swapping needs 400+Gb...

Importing into the asset browser was easy too and very handy with the previews in the asset browser.

well with 16gb you really might not have much extra space for textures etc, once a computer starts to swap, it does very different things ram management-wise (ram gb isn't same as just putting the same gb on disc)

Dear All,

as a reminder, the Special is still running with 30% off on all our Material & texture products!

As some asked me, YES the textures come with free bonus shader presets for all texture sets,

for the following engines:

    Corona render 6-10, (C4d and 3dsmax)
    V-Ray 6 (C4d & 3dsmax)Redshift (C4d)
    Octane (C4D)
    Blender (via blendermarket)

    +also special versions for:
    D5 render (extra sets at 2 & 4k)
    Enscape 3D render  (extra sets at 2 & 4k)

They of course work in any other render or real time app, like Unreal5 or Twinmotion, Lumion etc.

All are PBR texture sets with all needed channels at 8k, seamless of course,

derived from real-world Photos we took.

I've purchased the Concrete M03 Bundle today and this is probably the best looking / organised Concrete texture pack I've even seen.
Apart from the quality of the textures, I really like to keep my assets organised and this bundle has such a great file structure, including "how to" instructions. I appreciate the efforts you've put into this.
Looking forward to work with these assets in C4D/Corona.

Just a small remark / question.
I've noticed that the C4D/Corona materials are all Legacy Materials. Is there any downside to this, compared to using Physical materials?

Best regards,
Steven

Thank you Steven for the very nice feedback! :)

make some happy.
we put a lot of love and work into the materials.

for the legacy, for now I prefer this type of materials with the legacy material which will stay for ever and will not be removed - the Corona team confirmed.
there is no drawback in using it, the physical is only easier to setup in the sense it is less easy possible to make a "non physical" material with it;)
if the legacy is used right it delivers exact the same features and quality for that type of materials PLUS that it still has the reflection color slot which I miss sometimes.

today if i make new libraries i might use the physical for more materials, but i still use both types, depending on the needs, the legacy has overall more control in the reflection, the physical has some nice new features like sheen etc so fabric or SSS related material i for sure make with the physical mat.

so both are good to use, for concrete, i think legacy is best.

cheers
Stefan

Not to answer for Stefan-L since I'm sure he has his own reasons (and please let him explain), but from my perspective don't take the name of the material "Legacy" as some type of old-school material workflow. Legacy materials behave just the same as most standard workflows, or even your standard V-Ray materials. The "Physical" material workflow is mostly for PBR and potential "Future" compatibility. This is why the Legacy material will "never be removed", since not only does it work with previous workflows it also has a more adaptable workflow for the artist, even if the artist breaks the energy conservation rules - which is why you cant control the Reflection color and other settings since they are meant to behave in a way thats not easy for the artist to break.

So in short, if it looks good, it works well, the author (Stefan-L) did a good job. Dont be so concerned about the technical aspects unless you understand it well and want to adapt it to some particular workflow.

Ah you beat me to it Stefan :D

Thank you both Stefan-L and James for your replies. I'm new with Corona renderer and thats exactly what I was hoping to hear.
I was thinking that Legacy materials might be no longer supported in future versions and I needed to think about converting them. Great news!
Thanks again. Cheers!

Maybe just a little addition if I may, the Corona Physical MTL does work a bit differently under the hood sometimes - for example it is using the Oren Nayar diffuse model and there's been some improvements to the way thin glass is handled amongst others.

That said yes, nothing wrong with using the Legacy MTL, it is a fine material :)

yes Nejc,

for many thinks i love the new physical material, in special the thin surface SSS and glossy glass that is possible with it, also the coating and sheen of course.
as said it is great to have both options side by side:)

best
