Make new material library or open existing one, put your materials in it and save it to hdd. Simple as that.

Thanks Romullus. I will give it a go tomorrow :)
If it works it will be a little miracle for me.

I won't address everything that has been said here now but...
1) we (at least me) normally expect a certain amount of basic max knowledge when some questions are asked. I do not know how much or how few you know about max. So when you ask "how to use the converter" I could ...
a) explain how to load scripts, what a material is and how it is structured and how to save material libraries and so on
b) assume you know how to use max and just need help with a specific feature (that's what I asked for).

2) I'm not in any way associated with the product (Corona renderer). I'm only the developer of the converter script, so if if you think I behave to harsh, it's just me, not the corona team ;-)

3) Corona does not have to be the active renderer to use the converter, just as a note, it works nontheless.

4) again about courtesy and support. I do that (you can have a look in the converter thread), I just don't have the time to answer questions that have been put in a very general way. If you need help, make clear what you need. I don't mean anyone any harm (...and everyone may have a bad mood once in a while) ;-)

I get everything you say and you are right in what you have said. I should have been more specific in what I wanted :)
I guess I got intimidated by your "DeadClown" avatar. Maybe you should have a pic of an angel or something less scary :-)

I am 47 trying to understand and catch up with you talented guys. What's simple to most is taxing for me.
My conversion from Sketchup to Max has been hard. Each day I get alittle better though. Last week I did not even
know what a script was.... though I am familiar with Ruby scripts in SU.

So, again, I apologize for barking at you. It is more to do with my frustration at not knowing how to overcome something.

Is it possible to save a converted material to your HD so I don't have to do it again?
If so, how do I do it?
Will you be making the script convert VRmats in the future? Alot of my best materials are VRmats.

YOU GUYS ARE VERY TALENTED TO BE ABLE TO WRITE THESE SCRIPTS AND MAKE THEM DO WHAT THEY DO.
Thanks for spending the time trying to make our lives easier.

I understand how difficult it is to learn a completely new program, it takes a lot of time.
Your statement about frustration fits quite well here - it's also a bit of frustration on my side if I'm a bit grumpy sometimes. I mean, some of us are doing this kind of stuff for many years already (  > 10 years myself ), so if someone asks things we don't think about anymore you may become a bit impatient ;-)

anyways, you can save your materials by using a material library, more information here:
http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/16/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-F6EAAD34-6B31-4A0D-A3B6-27E14C2F3AD6.htm,topicNumber=d30e460328

If you need a more guided approach, I'm sure you can find something on youtube.

About VRmats: we just upgraded our licenses to Vray3, I'll have a look if and how they are accessable via maxscript. Can't promise anything ;)
Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistinguishable from a feature.

I have enclosed my first render with Sketchup+Vray. I have not produced anything since. After I finished this render I realised that if I want to get good at CG I need to move onto Max.
Corona has side tracked me. So I have gone into a little panic about materials for Corona. I like to hoard stuff.

Thanks for the info on saving materials. But, if you ever get chance can you just create a simple set of instructions (for everyone) on what the rest of the converter does. Just a quick notepad thing.
I always feel that I am missing out on something good I need to know. You must also be fed up of having to explain it on a daily basis.

VRmats are worth paying attention to. I prefer them to the materials from vray-materials.de cos they are self contained and can be assigned in one go.
Now that VRmats are cross platform between SU, Max and Rhino, it would future-proof your converter cos I am sure Corona will traverse to other software and people are persuaded not so much by the software
but the potential assets of the software.... hence my move to Max... it opens doors to other possibilites.

Thanks again DC.

Headoff... I looked at your site. Your work is really good. Are you Greek? Don't understand the language.

Thanks!)

I'm from Ukraine! Just yet I work almost only for local clients so it was no need to translate to other language.
Think now it is time to do it ))

I've travelled to Kiev in the summer many years ago.... my room over-looked the main square with the fountains and underground Mall. Had some Bolsh Soup, but did'nt like it.
Also been to Odessa in the south.
