Hi chaps,

We're not on 1.7 yet, but one of the things we're most looking forward to using is your CML, as we think it can easily replace our current setup. Are there any plans to implement the following?:

- centralised maps location with support for UNC paths/mapped network drives etc.

- centralised library so multiple users can access it simultaneously and if it changes somewhere everyone can see those changes (on re-load of library)

- ability for multiple users to add/remove/change library content

- ability to lock the library to read-only mode, and unlock when someone needs to add/remove/amend something, to help protect from library corruption or overwrites etc. or for admin management

- support for real-world scale or custom scale on import

- easy duplication so you can make alternative versions

- keywording with search box

Cheers,

Yes, yes, yes & most probably yes.

I haven't think of that, but it seems like a good idea.

We already discussed this and it seems that it's not as trivial as it may seem. We'll definitely look into that a bit more.

Sort of, yes :)

As usual, no time frame on any of this though. While we plan to expand the library, there are no immediate plans for that right now.

Hi Ryuu,

Thanks for your responses and great to hear it's all on your radar.

Think we mentioned before but centralised maps is a total base requirement for us and probably every studio, so we'd have to wait until that's implemented before we can use this, so I hope it's sooner rather than later! I think the way Siger handles it is quite elegant - you just define your custom maps path in the settings in the library and when you load the material into the scene/mateditor it automatically sets the bitmap paths to that folder. Works perfectly.

Guys I don't suppose you have a rough ETA on the ability for us to add our own content to the CML? We're right now evaluating options for material management so it would be great to have an idea if it's coming to 1.7.x or 2 etc.

Thanks,
