Loading a sequence of VDBs into Corona Volume Cache is taking forever. Also Every max scene load with VolumeGrid included takes the same insane amount again.
Network render clients are canceling frames because of max start time timeouts. My sequences are about 400-600 frames.
What is that complicated that Corona VolumeGrid needs to do with the caches the first time at loading?
Could you please fast look for the available frames then load the needed cache file and render ????
Embergen is quicker with simulating and saving caches than corona is with it's first initialization. We have projects to finish.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Sun highlight dark spot

We are getting a very ugly dark spot where the sun highlight should bo on objects, if we are looking through a plane in between the sun and camera, like a background landscape card.

It's happening with both background HDR or CoronaSun.

It's about the Fresnel Reflections checkbox in the Vray Materials. If it's not set (default = set) Corona converter converts it into a CoronaPhysical with metallness set to metal.
We brought some Vray asset packs where the creators disabled the checkbox inside the Vray materials and they convert into Corona Metal.

Also the Corona converter "Metallness" dropdown setting is broken and don't force "non-metal" onto them, making the matter worse.

We circumvent by batch setting the checkbox onto our vray materials before we convert them to Corona.

Devs: please fix the converter and find another way to distinguish if materials should be converted with metal / non-metal.

Ok, thanks for the very quick answer. We are animating kitchen appliances and need to hide / show like 50 glasses or water tanks/volumes throughout the clips. We are surprised of this bug/feature because on other renderers visibility 0 means all of the object (surface/volume/shadows/gi contribution) is not visible.

Of cause I'm fully aware animating object visibility is most of the time a bad idea with raytracers which leads to all sorts of funny light/gi artefacts and especially severe performance impacts if all layers and faces of an object needs to be rendered in front of each other, but as least animatioms from 100% to 0% visibility in one frame works fine. If 0% visibility really IS 0% visibility. ;-)

Drop a tinted glass onto an object then turn it's visibility under object properties down to 0. => Volume and it's shadow are still visible on render. It don't get completely invisible as it should. It's a pain in the ass if you need animated visibility of any glas objects.

The ability of this forum to simply be able to insert pics from clipboard would be amazing.

Cryptomatte support please. I find your lack of Cryptomatte support disturbing. The most other features on the list can be filled in by plugins but I need Cryptomatte, having full blown pipeline with Vray for years using Cryptomatte and need it. Even Blender has it. Shame on you.

We are just evaluating switching part of our studio from Vray Next to Corona Renderer and the main negative point right now is the lack of Cryptomatte support in CR. Doing a lot of industry / design animations and Cryptomatte is a must for us.

Please implement it.
