I've removed the bidirectional path tracing, as it is implemented now. You can remove your votes and then vote again with some different third feature.

Windows Vista 64.

Ooops ;). Just went over the code, looks like I forgot to fix the legacy-breaking parts of Embree last time I've integrated new version. So Alpha3 is Windows7+. I'll try to fix this for next stable version

What version of windows do you use? I am guessing XP x64. Only newer ones (Vista+) are supported

It looks like you have either not copied Corona_release.dll into the root folder of 3dsmax, or not installed the MSVC redistributable

_Edit:Definitely the first one (by looking at the first error message). Make sure you have the corona_release.dll copied into the 3dsmax root folder (where 3dsmax.exe is)

Yeah, I'm blaming this one on 3dsmax API documentation, or lack of thereof. They give no clue about how to implement some stuff so default bitmaps would display reasonably :/

hm, thats production defaults not activating. You are getting my debugging defaults instead. I'll have to look into it.

I know about the second problem, its just pain to set up correctly, so I was doing new algorithms instead until now ;)

Do you think "fancy lots-of-small-windows-cathedral scenes" will be faster with the new bidirectional path tracing? Tried some animation tests today and I came to the conclusion that i will have to wait for faster sampling stuff ;)
No, it won't probably help with this...

I've finally completed the bidirectional path tracing implementation. It is new unbiased GI method, much faster in certain difficult scenes.

Comparison with path tracing:
