'Legacy' approach - use 'Legacy material' - keep it 'simple'... It's magic. lol

If you are so good show me how to do exactly the same carpaint shader on the left.
It will be more efficient than words... :D

Works physically correct. Set it in 'Absorption' channel of  'Clearcoat layer' (worth to know what thin film really is).

Don't work. check out my first post. :)
I know what is a thin film don't need a professor :D Just I use it in a different way for a different use.

Hi there, there does seem to be an issue with the Thin Film shader. If it's not reported already, I will do so. I was having a look at some options and these are my workarounds so far.

1. Scanned material: 555f00prism

2. A Layered mat with the edge colour bumped up and fresnel

3. A layered with a Legacy mat & Fresnel IOR cranked to 999, Glossiness at 69% & a fresnel shader in the the colour texture slot of the reflection channel.

the C4D Thin Film shader still doesn't work with Corona 10 :( I'm disgusted.

Thank you very much. I will test them.

Any advice guys ? Chaos guys ?

Did you try using legacy material?

It was a legacy material. Same issue with physical.

Hello guys,

To make the carpaint of the car in the picture attached I used the C4D Thinfilm texture in a corona 7 shader. It works very well to simulate the real carpaint used on this concept car and very simple to make.
But since the version 8 of Corona, the C4D Thinfilm doesn't react in a same way. Same issue with Corona 9, and I must to reinstall Corona 7 to make new pictures to have the good shader.

Any idea or solution to have the good carpaint with Corona 9 ?

Thank you very much.
Laurent

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Masks of Layered Material

If I remember correctly, there was a similar post some time ago.
As far as I know, this isn't supported yet, unfortunately.

What version are you using? Maybe something changed already in v7...

I use Corona 7. I would be cool to add this option in a new version of Corona. I will use a tip with light material. Thanks.

[C4D] General Discussion / Masks of Layered Material
« on: 2021-08-15, 17:15:41 »
Hi guys,

Maybe somebody can help me.

I've got a layered material and a pic used as mask between the two materials. (Pic 1) I set up the Multi-pass to render the masks of the two materials with ID mat. But the render don't use the mask between the two material (pics 2).

Do you know if it is possible to render directly the masks simulated in the pic 3 ?

Thank you
L.

Scene sent.

Here's the txt file.

I try to send you the file through your system, and it would be nice to have a feedback if I did something wrong.

Hi guys,

I tried Corona 7 rc4 with C4D r23.110 OSX and when I use " enable dispersion " in the Refraction slot, C4D Crashed.

The same scene without " enable dispersion " with Corona 7 rc4 is working.
The same scene with " enable dispersion " with Corona 6 hotfix 2 is working.
