[Max] I need help! / CIE keeps asking for email address and password.

I moved corona image editor to my editing workstation. (it's portable, no?)
Every time I open it says "no active license found on this computer"...yada yada, and then I need to input my login info. It's like it's not saving the info on the computer.

Any advice?

[Max] General Discussion / CPU temps higher when denoising

Hi all,

I recently built a Ryzen workstation, overclocked. So I try to be aware of the temperatures when rendering to see if there's more room for a higher clock speed.

I noticed while rendering the temperatures are actually low. But when denoising they jump quite a lot.

Is this normal?
Does this mean that while rendering the CPU is not being used 100%? (The task manager shows 100% though)

[Max] I need help! / Max's UI laggy while on interactive rendering

Hi there,

I'm using my new Ryzen based workstation.
I'm noticing that spinners, and other interactive UI things (like selecting the value in a field) are laggy (take a second or two to respond) when interactive rendering is working. It makes sense obviously, but it wasn't this noticeable on my other computer.

Is there anything I can do to leave some room for processing UI actions while on IR?
Also, is it possible to make IR respond faster on heavy scenes?

[Max] I need help! / [solved] Fire to look just like the texture map

Hi all,

I'm looking to have fire on my scene.
I'm using a photo with opacity on a plane.

It seems that, no matter what exposure I have, I can't make it look on the rendering the same way as the photo.
Basically I want to have the pixels coming from that map unchanged after rendered.

I'm using a CoronaLightMtl, which seems to clamp the colors making it planer (washed out).


Any suggestions?

I really like the corona post tools. So I would like to load an image (EXR or not) into the VFB.

I just moved from Max 2014 to Max 2017.
Do you suggest changing any Max's default parameter such as exposure control?
Or the corona VFB overrides everything?

I was wondering if now a days there's anything better than displacement.
Maybe a feature I'm not aware of...
Specifically I need to create wood siding in a house.

Hi,

Is there a way to increase the samples for the sky?
Even with sky portals it seems that it adds noise to the scene and cannot get rid of it after multiple passes. I tried in multiple scenes.
Glass is thin.

[Max] I need help! / Removing indirect light noise from existent render

Hi,

I've been rendering an image for many hours. The indirect light pass has lots of noise and it's not going to disappear, ever.
Is it possible to change the settings (not sure what), and resume the render to correct that noise?

FYI: The render is mostly dark, with dark textures and materials.

I found that the 2 sinks made of glass were causing fireflies on several areas in the render.

Do you know why? I kind-of need those sinks made of glass...

[Max] I need help! / resize the interactive VFB window- Even smaller

On the documentation it says "To resize it, simply resize the VFB window", refering to the interactive frame buffer.

I can shrink it up to a certain point, but it won't let me go under about 450px.
Is this correct?

Hi there,

I'm new to Corona.
Las night I was rendering a scene and this morning there was no sign that 3ds max was ever open.

Is there a way to save or auto-save the rendering in progress, so if Max crashes you can open that file and continue rendering from where it left of?

If this was discussed before, a hint on what thread to read would be apreciated.
