Hi everyone,

I've added the support for our beloved render engine to Quixel Bridge.

Details are on my Gumroad page, let me know if you have questions but it should be pretty straightforward, it just works.

Features in v0.3
- complete Megascans maps support including even metalness, translucency, transmission, fuzziness
- combo channel map support ( AO+Albedo, Normal + Bump )
- decals support, loaded as Corona Decal
- exact displacement scale, acquired from the asset's metadata
- new settings added for greater control over the material creation process and to improve displacement management

In certain past versions of Corona there was an ingenious keyboard shortcut that worked in VFB Corona to quickly create region render fields.
All you had to do was press Shift + left and create regions. 

I wasn't aware of this shortcut, and it's weird because it still works on Corona for Cinema 4D. Thanks !

BTW it would be great if the new VFB could feature some customizable shortcuts ( wink to the devs ).

It's not supported yet and it has been requested. I believe there's a way to convert vertex maps to black and white within C4D, I just can't recall right now.

Glad to know, I hope to see it implemented sooner than later because VM are quite useful and efficient in this context.

Are you thinking about converting vertex map to vertex color ?

Well, it happens in every scenes, old and new ones. Here with the same preset from Cosmos on a 1km2 landscape mesh. Going from +400FPS to 1.5 !

Hi,

When IR is running, changing the Max Limit value in the Config tab is making instances disappearing from the rendered image.



EDIT 1: In fact it seems that altering any value during IR is making instances disappear ( tried with Count and Per Square values )

EDIT 2 : OK, I've found the culprit. This is happening only when the instanced objects are Corona Proxies. The thing is that I was using a preset from the Cosmos Library, so it's kind of the default behavior, not the best first impression. IR works fine when they're converted to regular mesh objects.

Hi,

First time i'm using Scatter, I have enabled the camera clipping which is a great addition compared C4D Cloner, but it is still slow AF in the current version. Will it be fixed in the next version ?

Is this not working for S22? Seems to be fine in 2023/24 ;)

I don't know, I haven't tested the scripts on anything other than the latest 2024.1/2024.2. Did you try it on S22 ?

I've just update the archive with the latest version of the scripts, and wrote somewhat of a documentation.

For the bitmap conversion scripts the Layer Shader is now supported ( even when nested inside another Layer Shader ) BUT the undo is broken in this specific case, something on the Python SDK side which could be investigated. So be careful and use the other conversion script to go back.

Updated the Normals Filtering script with a dialog box to choose the filtering method. Also new icon.



And I've added two scripts to sort Corona Materials in your scenes. Not the most exciting thing but it has been useful for me once or twice, so maybe for you too.

Batch Load HDRIs
Simple but effective, it allows you to load several HDRI at once, with some control over the way its done.
It can be useful to quickly iterate during the look development and dust off that "HDRI" folder stuffed from the last Black Friday deals.

Nope, you must be doing something incorrectly since it works on my side.

@davetwo is right, the correct workflow is to use a different map than for the bump and use a 50% gray color where the geometry should not move. But Corona allow you to set min/max level ( some render engine only have one value = the total height of the displacement ) and you can take advantage of this. So -3/0 with a black and white map or -3/+3 with a gray map is really just the same thing.

Invert the image colors and also invert the min displacement level ( minus 0.3 ).

Here are some custom scripts for you, just in time for Christmas !

- C4D Bitmap to Corona Bitmap

I wrote them a quite some time ago but with the perspective of releasing more scripts next year, I've improved them in many ways and while they're not perfect (details here), I hope they will be useful to some of you.

WHAT IT DOES
Convert Bitmaps Scripts


Pretty self explanatory, convert all the bitmaps shaders in the material in one way or another ( C4D Bitmap >< Corona Bitmap )

Update Normals Filtering


Change the normals filtering method to Roughness Modulation over the selected materials.
