Hello

Does anyone have a workaround for the lack of a two sided material in C4D at present (A5.1)

Cheers

If you mean assigning different colors/textures to front/backside - it looks like C4D's "normal direction" works fine (under "effects").

thanks Maru, that works for solid colours but doesn't seem to work under the layer shader.

How would you use the normal direction for leaves for example?

If your just after a way of making of making leafs for a tree the translucency option is a good one.

thanks Rhodesy

I've got translucency enabled with a texture in there with the hue adjusted via a filter but I was hoping to adjust the reflections for the underside of the leaf as they tend to be a lot less glossy than the top.

I think Maru is talking about the C4D shader (see screenshot):

It works for solid colours but I'm not sure how to use it for different reflections on a leaf for example.

Yup, Normal Direction shader works. For reflection use it in Reflection channel (colors only).

Edit... so found a bug or unsupported feature: Corona doesn't respect side selections in Texture tag properties for Side. Reported on mantis ID0001888.

I stumbled across this topic while googling for 2 Sided Materials inside Corona for C4D, so please forgive me if my solution is already known. You can put the Normal Dircetion Shader into a Corona Output Shader and use it as a layer mask inside a layer shader, then you can have two different textures and are not restricted to just using the colors of the normal direction shader.
