Sorry, I should have been more clear. The solo node was not meant to turn off maps in IR / final render. It’s meant to just make a certain map visible in the viewport for easier mapping. So, what you are describing is effectively a “solo node in viewport” in max.

C4D - Besides IR, how do you QUICKLY map metal, glass, etc with bump/ roughness correctly in the viewport?

Prioritization is of course tricky- C4D users don't want to be left behind without new features because older things were being worked on,…

I get that, but as I said, I’m talking about VERY OLD bugs/ missing features.
As an example of another “big” one, the missing SOLO NODE in C4D first came up in Nov. 2018. See https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=22286.msg137119#msg137119
This is a very useful feature for EVERY user but since this feature seems to be supported in Max OTB for all render engines, this is probably not important enough to make it work just for C4D users. The workaround for this missing feature is very time consuming and makes the workflow for C4D users so much slower!

Are you saying this feature has been on your to-do-list for the past 4+ years and there was never any time to work on this?
Or, is this feature in your view not important enough to get any prioritization?

Do we need a current inventory list of old bugs/ shortcomings that still exists in corona 9/10 for C4D? Too many times these issues seem to get “forgotten” in the bug/ feature request sections.

We are almost 8 versions into CoronaC4D and there are still things that never worked in C4D but they do work in Max.
A “big” one for me is deformation motion blur & velocity pass not working in C4D but they work in Max.
To be clear, I’m not asking about new features that we might want to have, I’m just asking to give us the same features Max users already have.
After all, we are paying the same for Corona as the max users do!

Does it make sense to start a “missing features - inventory list” that developers can work on before V10 comes out?
Instead of spending time on "fun" new features like Chaos Phoenix, maybe working on something we C4D users can actually use would be great.

Thoughts?

Do I understand this correctly, you need to be on the latest daily to get the latest Cosmos assets?
My understanding is that the cosmos browser is “just” a browser. The latest (updated) assets are loaded from the cosmos server.
Is that not the case?
What are these “updates” when opening the cosmos browser then?

Navigating an image in the VFB is extremely clunky.
No need to repeat the zoom issues that many complained about for years.
Pan left/ right using a scrollbar???  That maybe was cool in the 90’s?!
I would use the VFB if image navigation works the exact same as in PV.

I think the keyword here is “suddenly”.
This happens to me too, on a semi regular basis.
Cosmos browser works fine for hours, then suddenly I get the “There is a problem with Chaos Cosmos” msg with the “reload” button. Reload > window goes blank.
Sometimes it comes back after 30 min or the next morning.
Happened this morning, Aug. 19, at 11:10 am EST/ UTC -5
At 1:12 pm EST Cosmos loaded normally again. (maybe check your server logs)
It feels like the Cosmos server is overwhelmed and goes dark every now and then.
If this is licence related wouldn’t this also impact rendering? I can render just fine while Cosmos is not accessible.
I have a very stable & fast internet connection, no AV, no firewall blocking.
MacOs 10.15.7 / Cor V8 HF1

Hi Corona team,
I’m wondering about the large difference in available materials in the c4d cosmos browser compared to what’s shown on the Chaos Cosmos website.
For example “Fabric” only has the same 10 assets since V8 release about 4 months ago, compared to 540 assets shown on chaos.com.  Car paints, decals, etc are completely missing.
All in all, website shows 1172 materials, actual available in c4d 201…
Realistically, I’m not expecting to hear a definite date when these assets will be available to us, but maybe you can poke the Chaos Cosmos Team to not forget about us??? Thanks!

For max, but the principles apply. 

It’s always these sharp edges on rugs that are a dead giveaway. Also make sure your actual texture is a large enough sample to avoid obvious tiling.
I would experiment with a mixture of rug texture and corona hair to get better detail, variation and realism.

macOs 10.15.7 / S24/ Version • 8 (Hotfix 1)
Since upgrading to hotfix 1 on Monday, Cosmos browser shows only the famous blank window. Today (Wednesday) “update to latest…" popped up and after updating, I only get
“There is a problem with Chaos Cosmos — undefined is not an object (evaluating ‘r.includes’)”
I only updated to hotfix 1 to see if this fixed the “immutable shader” issue.
So, Cosmos went from unusable in TR to completely unusable.
Is there a more stable solution planned? How do I switch to using my OS default web browser instead of the C4D built in cosmos browser?
