MacOs 10.13.6 / C4D Studio R18.057 / Corona Version: 6.0 daily May  6 2020

When “Enhanced OpenGL preview of Corona materials” is activated in Corona preferences.
- Object with Corona mat becomes invisible when moved.
- When adjusting material settings in texture tag, object/ material goes invisible while adjusting.
- Object dragged to the content browser is invisible in preview window.

When “Enhanced OpenGL preview of Corona materials” is de-activated
- Object dragged to the content browser does not show any materials.

All of the above same as in Version: 5 hotfix 2

Look at the c4d help file for explanation. There is also a win only setting "Lower Process Priority" that might be enabled.

Can't imagine little tinkerbell fills up 16GB of ram...
Maybe you set a low "custom # of render threads"?

Hi Core2000,
not sure what you mean by "disable materials in the viewport".
How do you see how a material maps onto an object if it's disabled?

MacOs 10.13.6 / C4D Studio R18.057 / Corona 5 HF2

Is this fixed in V6 daily? Didn't see anything in change log.
This makes working in V5 impossible, had to back to V4. Is this a Mac only problem?

Just in case you are not aware, in Corona 5 dragging objects (with corona materials applied) into content browser, makes objects invisible in the preview window.

I have the same problem as shown in the video.
Also, when changing projection type in texture tag, object disappears for a couple of seconds
This happens as long as there is a corona material applied - meaning if a c4d material is stacked to the right it also happens
Only when corona material is removed, the issue disappears.
This is new in V5.

Saving the UHD cache to a “cache” folder in the project directory that can be seen and loaded by all nodes.
This would also help in mixed OS environments where a absolute path just won’t work.

Just like working with ies files in TR got so much easier, after you implemented the ies folder
In the project directory.

Full-speed non-debug version

OS and C4D see below.

Mac installer still won’t let me deselect both LUT and ies installations.
Deselect one and the other one gets automatically selected again.
The LUT list in VFB is still in random order. In PV list is sorted.
Very difficult in VFB to find your preferred LUT in this endless list…

Also, if you select a LUT in VFB it updates the render in VFB and PV, but it does not update the entry in the LUT list in the PV “Corona post process" tab.
After a little while the VFB jumps back to whatever LUT is selected in PV. Very irritating.
It does work the other way around (PV change - updates VFB list), but I think most people prefer to do all their adjustments in the VFB since PV post process tab is limited.
Can this be fixed? Hopefully in hotfix 1

I need to keep my PV open since zooming in and out in the VFB is still painful.

Hi Corona Team,
created scene in V.4.0  Now installed V.5 RC 4 and the scene parsing went from a couple of minutes to 27 min. ...
Hi, sending us the scene would be great. We can get access to those plugins so no need to worry there. ;) Thanks

Hi beanz,
did you have a chance to test the scene I sent? Any idea what's causing the increase in parsing time? Did not see this addressed in the recent RC's

Uploaded scene to dropbox - "jojorender_V5-RC4_parsing_time.zip". Let me know if there are issues using the scene.
Thanks.
EDIT:
Getting confused by your naming convention. I tested V5 RC 4 last weekend, but you posted RC 1 yesterday.
Is this a countdown?

Hi Corona Team,
created scene in V.4.0  Now installed V.5 RC 4 and the scene parsing went from a couple of minutes to 27 min. See screenshots attached.
All single machine rendering.
It’s the same scene, difference in render settings:
V. 4 used displacement screen 3px and 2. GI solver Path tracing
V. 5 used displacement screen 4px, 2.5 displace active and 2. GI solver UHD Cache.
Don’t think that choice of GI solver influences parsing time, and for displacement value, 4px should make parsing faster, if anything…
Tried twice including restarting the machine, same crazy long parsing time, went back to V.4.0

It’s a large scene, but if you want it for testing, I can send it to your private uploader.
If so, do you have list of installed plugins on your systems?
I use Forester Multicloner to scatter unbaked Forrester trees, grass, etc. There might also be still some unbaked “MeshBoolean” in this scene.

Ver. 4.0 Jun 17 2019 18:48:37

Any update on this? It's still happening.
Actually something seems broken.
When I try to set a custom directory in corona render settings it always defaults back to “/Library/Application Support/corona/lut” after a couple of seconds.
The directory that I’m trying to set does contain some selected luts.

It also defaults to “Adanmq_Advantix_100.cube”, no matter what lut was actually selected.

Please, Please, Please fix this, it’s really annoying.

About this Forum / Re: Forum search filter?

Now that V5.0 is around the corner, there is a lot of outdated info on the forum.
I think it’s time to change the default search order from “most relevant” to “most recent first”. I always find myself digging into search parameters because many search results are not really relevant anymore.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Corona Flickering Problem
« on: 2019-10-12, 16:35:09 »
Hi BigAl3D,
this kind of flicker reminds me of what I see when rendering animations with trees, grass etc.
While turning down gloss in leaf material helped a bit, what ultimately worked for me was romullus tip of doubling render resolution.
Thanks romullus!!!

Video (or picture) has limited resolution and when very thin object is travelling through screen, it may occupy different number of pixel lines. In one frame it might be displayed as two full lines and in the next one it might be smeared over three lines. The thinner the object is, the more pronounced shimmering will be. Better filtering algorithm may help to reduce the effect, but ultimately, in extreme cases like yours, there's only so much it can do. Rendering at bigger resolution, would be the best option here, because it would affect the root of the problem. If you were using time limit for your animation, then i'd suggest to leave time limit the same and double the resolution - rendered image will be much noisier, but when you'll downsample to half rez, it should contain roughly the same noise level as original frames, but AA will be much better. You can also use blurrier image filtering with bigger radius, because downsampling will make your picture much sharper and generally you don't want too much sharpness in animation.
See this thread https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=26131.msg155842#msg155842

Maybe give that a try and let us know how it works in your case.
