[C4D] I need help! / Re: wire shader angle restriction
« on: 2024-04-10, 14:50:44 »
Thanks guys for the info.
I thought, I “quickly” set this up in c4d standard with a Sketch Mat - LOL, after years of corona I can’t remember how to set up a native c4d mat scene.

Hi Konichowaa, did you ever figure out how to get rid of the extra edges?
I tried the "melt" function that Beanz suggested but these edges are still rendered.
“ALL Edges” off
I tried to replace wire with the curvature shader, but I can’t get the same sharp edge like the wire shader.
Any ideas?

Interesting. Is this a macOs problem?
Can you please render the attached and verify.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack, since none of this actually addresses the OP problem.
He needs SEAMLESS tiling not mirror.

Can we just agree that Corona Bitmap is still a mess... Yes, thank you!

... Or you could connect it to a layer shader, add a transform filter and mirror it there.

Did something change in V12?
This definitely does not work in V11.1 - try and render....

Might be too obvious but did you try ".uhd"?
Maybe I don't understand the question....

Hi there, I just checked this on my MacBook and it loaded instantly. No sluggishness. In the Corona preferences you can enable "Use external web browser". This still works and loads instantly also. At least, it is for me.

WOW, this worked. THANK YOU!!!
What a difference. Why have I been suffering for 3 years now???
Crazy how bad the c4d browser is. Why even make this the default on mac?

Hi Stefan,
maybe it's an macOS thing but Cosmos uses by default the C4D built in browser window - not Safari.
To clarify, when you click on the COSMOS icon, your default web browser opens and displays cosmos assets?
I don’t know where I can choose to use my system web browser or the C4D built in browser? Any idea?

It seems that the C4d browser has no cache functionality and is very slow in general.
Don't think it matters, but I'm using the brave browser as my default.

To be clear it has always been slow in loading these preview thumbnails - nothing new.
Is there no way to cache images like every other web browser does?
There seems to be a “lazy load” function when scrolling down, BUT when scrolling UP again some previews have disappeared  and need to reload again! What???  This is really bad.

On chaos.com the COSMOS asset previews load very fast, but can't be used for downloading assets.

I kinda remember that you could use an external web browser to bring Cosmos assets in but I never used it.
Does this still work? Can’t find the setting for this.
Any other tips to speed up image loading?

Although I am no longer using the asset browser because of the many problems with CR assets and their materials.

hey frv, what are you using instead of the asset browser? Don't know of any alternatives...

CR team,
I find it strange that only some cor bitmap shader problems get fixed and the rest ignored again...
Lost all hope for a real fix. Corona was fun while it lasted.

Peace!

Not sure why there is a long discussion about scene scale, cm/ mm, -100 blur-scale.. etc
The corona team knows about this problem for a long time and didn’t forget about it!
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=30968.msg176403#msg176403
It’s one of many corona bitmap issues and the only solution for now: Use native c4d bitmap.
-100 blur-scale is brutal and NOT the solution!
I wouldn’t normally care, but the fact that most cosmos assets use corona bitmap makes cosmos "unusable".

Not sure I understand what exactly you are trying do...
Masking hairs like this? If so, maybe attached c4d file can help.

Is your mask comp tag on the hair object or the geo?

What is the point of your ACES OT’s and negative highlight compression?
The bridge etc still has massive blown out “highlights”.
Why saturation 0.1? - Pink clouds.
Turn off bloom and glare - find your tone map/ exposure values first and only then add subtle B&G.

As beanz said, the problem starts with your materials…
Are you using corona materials? The materials look like they are just simple colors… no textures - lifeless/ flat. Most windows no reflections???
Flat noon lighting = flat image.

You need to spend the time and apply “realistic” materials to all elements…all buildings, roads,
etc. Avoid repeating textures. Check tex sampling for “far away” materials.
Delete all trees or replace with cosmos trees. Once you see something “fake” all looks fake.

Sun size “5” means it’s hazy/ soft shadow light. Something is not right…
Is your scene to real world scale? If not, scale up to a real life value.

What’s across the river, off camera? Once you use real glass material, these windows want to reflect something interesting, not just endless sky…

Hey, the water looks great!
