Hello,

We are an architecture studio searching for an exceptional visualization agency or artist to partner with for our projects. It is a plus if the artist is comfortable adding some additional detail to models when required and is familiar with modeling specified furniture and lighting.

Please message me with portfolio and availability.
Thanks,

J

Oh interesting, I hadn't found this. Thank you for your help.

Hello,

I recently built a workstation using an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920x. My motherboard is a Asrock Taichi x399 and my CPU cooler a Noctua NH-U14S which was designed specifically for the Threadripper CPUs and apparently performs very well for most people.

I installed the motherboard's utility software and was startled to see that my CPU temp was hovering between 50C ambient and 80+C when rendering, which is way above what I expected. I downloaded 'Core Temp' - which seems to be a pretty popular CPU temp utility, and was relieved but also puzzled when it showed much lower temperatures. It's giving me a reading of 23C ambient right now.

Generally people seem to trust Core Temp above all else, as it apparently measures the temp of the actual CPU interior, but I'm still a little worried about the discrepancy. Is my motherboard utility just a load of bull?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

J

P.S.  Does anyone OC their Threadripper? I've read some stuff online suggesting that you don't get a whole lot of bang for your buck versus with Intel CPUs.

Hey Danio, sorry to hijack your thread, but what graphics card are you getting?

Wow, thanks so much for the tip! I tried their assets with the Bridge plugin and it's amazing!! I notice they don't sell any whole trees - just ground cover and stumps, etc. Do you think most visualizers create their own trees with growFX or something, and apply megascan textures to get a similar look? (never done this before) Or do you recommend just mixing in pre-made trees like Vizpark's, for example? I'm a little concerned there will be a visual disconnect between other people's assets and megascans. Thanks SO much!

Hello,

I'm searching for some forest & forest-ground assets for a personal project. I found this person's work but I wasn't entirely sure if it was compatible with Corona and 3dsMax. Could anyone confirm that for me? I saw that alot of his assets seem to be geared towards UE4. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.

Hello,

I am aware of floor generator and omni tile, which can create customized patterns on a surface. I am using floor generator currently but it cannot simultaneously apply a pattern to two different surfaces. I am having to manually instance a bunch of modifiers onto different objects which is a little clumsy.

Is there any method or product that can apply dynamic patterns onto a whole bunch of objects simultaneously? The application is building facade design.

[Max] I need help! / Dist. Rendering Issues
« on: 2016-11-29, 18:47:15 »
Hello,

I am having an awful time recently with Distributed Rendering. I'm using UNC, everything is linked to a network folder, nodes and computers are running the latest software and plugins, etc. I keep getting results like the attached where a linked texture doesn't show up and is actually replaced by a mishmash of completely random stuff that isn't even in my scene. I've tried reducing the resolution of textures but that doesn't help either. Weirdly if I isolate the floor geometry it actually renders properly with the nodes.

Does anyone have any advice for me on this? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Can anyone think of a way for someone to incorporate an additional HDRI into their Corona scene for Lightmix purposes? I am using an overcast HDRI in my environment slot, but when I turn this down in Lightmix for 'evening' scenes I have a very black sky.  If I could have an extra domelight or something in the scene with a nice blue HDRI, that I can turn up in Lightmix to get better evening light. I'm working in a big scene with lots of design studies and it's helpful to be able to generate lots of lighting conditions from one camera and scene. Such a great feature, by the way!

General CG Discussion / Re: Modeling Furniture

I mean, how difficult is it to make high quality models of furniture like the ones on DesignConnected? How do those guys do it? Is it the sort of thing a few YouTube tutorials will help you get started on or is there a lot more depth to it? Is it necessary to model in 3dsMax versus Sketchup or Rhino?

wow that's a godly plug-in.

Thank you -both-!

Hi all,

Just wanted to get your guys' thoughts on creating animations versus renderings. Is it actually harder to do the former for a client? I got an opportunity recently to create one for a client but I've never done so before. Should I fake it til I make it and just go for it, or would I be stepping into a serious mistake? I think all that the animation would entail is a fly-through of a detailed model—I wouldn't need moving entourage or anything.

Thanks,

Great - thanks for the book rec mraw. I've heard of this title in the course of my own education but have never read it. I'll go buy it.

Also, wow I'm so surprised you echo'd Deadclown. Can you elaborate on the benefits and advantages of learning to code? What languages do you know?
