I haven't recovered from watching the intro yet. It's delightfully wtfish. Now compare it with the Autodesk Stingray one.

To be honest, I'm disappointed with this release as I've been with the latest 4 updates, that look more like half releases than full ones. The main feature worth mentioning is Takes. This is really helpful. All the other ones, while welcomed, are really small additions! This definitely should be called R16.5!

Still no GPU rendering -___-

Guess I'll stick octane and corona.

GPU rendering isn't something to measure an update against. C4D needs a lot of other updates before getting a GPU render.

At first I was pretty disappointed about R17. I so need a nodal material system... There are some pretty cool workflow enhancements to be excited about. I hope this means they have some big stuff in store for R18!

The most exciting new feature with be the official release of Corona for C4D though!!!

Yeah I think the fact we have to wait another 12 months under a cloak of secrecy to find out is the frustrating bit. It really feels like they plow on with fingers in their ears. However the new takes tool will be handy I can't deny that. Corona is so refreshing where you can see the roadmap and converse directly with the developers. Not to mention the constant publishing of updates and new tools.
