I think I may have found a bug in version 7.

I'm making a floor by plugging two offset version of the same texture in a composite map with a noise map as blending map.

It shows fine in the diffuse, but in the bump slot, only one of the maps seems to be having an effect. The other one shows flat. Have a look at the images:

Yes, unfortunately most of the maps that mix textures together do not work as bump maps. I do not remember why, but Ondra said there was something difficult about making it work.

It's still considered a bug though...

As a temporary workaround, i usually blend the maps by hand in PS, or use just one of them. You could try CoronaMixTex. Could work, but i haven't tried yet.

This is strange, CoronaMixTex will not work in bump mode, but standard maps should. I'll investigate soon

it appears that composite map acts weird but standard mix map seems to work ok.

I can try the mix map as a workaround. Doing maps in PShop won't work as this workflow is designed to avoid repetition over large surfaces. The equivalent bitmap would have to be 10K or 20K.

Yes, please ignore my CoronaMixTex suggestion, and try regular Mix map. That one indeed seems to work.

On A7 the Mix for Bump it´s not working for me. I consider it a bug cause it´s part of my pipeline to work this way, aways on other render engines. Is it working on A6, A5, A4 ?

You kinda need to mix some actual maps, mix amount itself doesn't do much if it mixes two empty slots for corona...

THX LAcilaci, it looks strange for me but i will try it, but i just discovered that´s not working EVEN using SCANLINE + STANDARD material, Max is ignoring the Bump when i plug an Mix map (But Scanline and Corona acts as expected if it´s pluged to displacement), so this is some kind of Weird Behavior of 3dsMax internals...

Or i am missing something huge here, cause it looks too weird to me.

     But it´s not Corona´s bug, if it´s a bug it´s a 3dsMax Bug...

It seems that´s a "normal" behavior of mix slot, Neil Blevings talk about this here http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=309514

     Stills sound strange for me.

I went over all issues in this topic, and the first post is the only one that still may be a bug. I've tried experimenting with the composite map, and it worked every time in corona as expected.

BBB3viz: Can you provide me some simple example (scene) showing composite + bump not working as expected?

CoronaMix + bump fixed
no bugs with composite + bump were ever reproduced
