Hi

i experienced something i never had before in Corona, the render crashes after like 50-60 passes. ram is not out, all seems ok.

it uses glow and glare, my feel was that it might be connected to this?

anyone had also crashes like this in final v10?

Hi

most time it freezes, no bug report sadly.

i get random it freeze during render after some frames or after some rendertime, during ipr. i must say v10 is very unstable while rendering for me here.(on all pcs here  the same)

v9 was very solid in end

again the render stopped after 20 frames sadly. it stucks then at "preparing" for hours, i can only force quit c4d.

edit: now again: i had it freeze or hangs on prepare stage on frame 24, 40 and now 60, then freeze at frame 79,...
the scene is light, minimal ram usage.

when i kill c4d and start it again it continues ok for some time (seems always around 20 frames)

i am on r25, latest corona v10.
i tested with automatic out-of-core feature ion and off.
the scene has one material tag animated(exchanging materials) on one floor polygon.

v9 works flawless on the same scene

Hi, just curious, is R25 the only version of C4D you have?

Hi
no, i also have 19,21,23,26,2023.

i actively use r25 and R2013

i reversed to Corona v9 hotfix 1 and all works ok again (so the issue is only in v10)

Curious if the C4D Console (Extensions menu) window would provide some useful information? If it doesn't retain any info since you have to force quit, then have it on screen when you render so at least you can see what's going on.

Hi,

I have a bit similar issue. I try to render an interior animation, not a super complex one. Render time for one frame is ~6min. After rendering a random amount of frames, once 32, once 72 my Cinema just freezes. I can't click anything, I can only 'End task' from the 'Task manager'. Cinema 2023.2.1 with the last version of Corona, Win10, 64GB of ram (with 36GB used during the rendering). I left my machine to render animation overnight and had to remotely force Cinema to restart three times.

It's possible to generate a minidump if C4D has frozen (something it does automatically on a crash) - see https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4648898278545-How-to-report-issues-C4D#h_01FDY55JCQMR188S36A1F0SS1T . Minidumps are very useful as they show what was going on, what got stuck, etc. The only time that can't be done is when C4D (or Max) simply disappears without going through the crash process or freezing. So with these freezes, can someone generate the minidump and send it in please?

Thx for your response. I started rendering again, I left the console open. If it freezes again I'll send you a minidump.

Much appreciated! Takes a wee bit of extra time, so we understand the inconvenience, but it does give us a much better chance of some insight into what went wrong :)

Strangely enough, I was able to render 180 frames in one go (same project, better quality, 27h of constant render time) without any hiccups. I'll keep you posted If the error shows up again.

Best,
L.

I started working with the same project again, but with new elements in the scene, and there were some more crushes. I wanted to render an animation over the weekend and I had to restart Cinema remotely, 4 times. I saved all four minidumps. With the last crash, I had my console open as well, but there was nothing there, just standard info about the last pass. How can I send the dumps?

Scenes, dumps etc can be sent via opening a ticket at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and attaching them (you can include the link to this forum post in the ticket description so we can tie to the two together) - thanks for capturing those!

i still suffer the freeze after around 20 frames in this type of scene. it one or several an animated material tags(where the material changes each frame).

it seems not purely related to v10 as i now get it also in v9.
ram is not an issue as it takes only few.
the vfb stays then as "prepare" phase, even though the console shows it should be already at a fee sampling levels.

i cannot sadly give yu the scene, but can i give you some other thing? (like dump created via task manager? Would that help?
i think it is some very specific, maybe you can see some in the dump. i not get a crash report as it freezes and not crashes
