where did disappear the highlights control in the interactive rendering window, under the heading "tone mapping"?

If you mean "Highlight Compression": it is now part of a sub-menu under "Filmic" (on the right side you find an arrow to be clicked!

I had to ask that, too :)
You can add it via the plus sign as "Reinhard Highlight Compression".

Also in my opinion it should be immediately available. I believe that the choice of putting it under the "+" key depends that they want to standardize the FB window between Corona and Vray
