Dear Devs,

In the Documentation you said dont set the wall to brighter than 75-80% grey. But now, in the coro material library (daily) you set up plaster white smooth as 90,829%. Can you explain this please, i dont understand how its correctly used.

Thanks, Lev

Hi. Take a look at the thread already made here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33462.0

I think there is an open question as to wether the current daily build library has best-practice materials - or if they're temporary conversions from the Max library and will be updated for the V7 release

There are paints that bright, even commonly used for high-end wall-painting. Just one of many brands: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color/PM-1/super-white?color=PM-1

You can even buy some "experimental" paints for art that reach above 95 (they claim 99perc. but I call a bit bullshit...). I bought some for fun. https://culturehustle.com/products/white-2-0-beta?_pos=17&_sid=e6f34f1c3&_ss=r

Documentation gives a generic advice and the guidelines keep changing on yearly basis and evolution of material models. The original PBR guidelines were meant to correct the overly bright and saturated colors used in pre-physical game engines. But it looks like we all might have erred too much into dark.

Lastly, rendering engines often suggest lowered albedo to ease up on GI calculations but I would ignore this advice. Image should be primarily plausible not done in way that makes the renderer feel good :- )

I don't think we ever said we'll update the materials for V7 release, because that's not what we're planning at all.

Thanks Juraj for posting examples.

So can I infer from that answer that the materials in the library are best-practice examples?
