Hello,

I just started using Corona renderer and experience that my computer becomes really sluggish when rendering a really simple scene. This was not a problem when rendering in a previous project which was quite heavy. I am using Max 2020 and a demo license for Corona 6 hotfix 1 (demo license). I have 32 GB ram and dont get any warnings og errors when rendering.

Hope someone can help me.

No problem here with your project. You didn't mention your computer specs.

Intel Core i7-9750H - 6 x 2.60 GHz
GeForce RTX 2060
And I just updated to 32GB ram. Can this be the problem?

RAM is not the problem - Corona would give an error message, and assuming you are rendering at the same resolution etc. as in your sample file, Corona and Max only use about 5.5MB. TY for the hardware specs too, good information to have!

There are 2165 animation layers in that scene, maybe that's your problem. Use this script

https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=19797.msg130003#msg130003

or any cleaner script dealing with animation layers.

Good Luck

Thanks, this didnt help unfortunately. I just run the script and it works automatically in the background right? I didnt know i had any animation layers, where can you see this? I dont mean to have any animation but I have imported some of the assets so they might have some animation on them which I am not aware of.

If you run it, it will stay active for this session when opening a scene(!). Throw it into your startup scripts directory to be sure to have it active permanently. It's the "Romullus edition" with deactivated confirmation boxes, but you should see output in the maxscript listener.

And yes, a very high amount of downloaded "asset" scenes have those anim layers meanwhile. They are global tracks and stack with every merged object, leading to thousands of those layers in a scene. Manual check: Open curve editor, change to dope sheet ("Editor"->"Dope Sheet") and expand "Anim Layer Control Manager" -> "Anim Layers", see screenshot.

BTW: Check the normals of Box001 and apply a shell modifier to avoid possible "light leak" effects. And disable exposure control in Environment and effects, you don't need this using Corona (and CoronaCamera).

Good Luck

Any updates here, I would love to take a look at your scene but I am afraid the link has expired.

You have a good enough PC to render, but keep in mind that when you render you are going to have 100% cpu usage and thats normal! It will slow ur pc down a bit. I suggest learning how to use the render queue and set up renders for times you wont be on ur pc.

Also, it helps to check support assist for updates and to clean ur pc up. I pair support assist with CCleaner to keep a fresh PC. I have a similar PC build and I find temporary files such as Shader Caches, temporary files from web searches, etc... after a while weigh down my PC a lot after a while of not cleaning it so be sure to clean it atleast once a week.
