Hi guys,

So, as the title say it, I have some low memory issues for the first time with corona.
I have a Ryzen 7 1700 with 32gb (4x8) and looks like I need 64gb.

Here is my question;
I'm gonna buy 64gb (4x16) but what can I do with my old 32gb (I can't keep them in my computer, the motherboard have only 4 memory slots) ?
I'm also interested to make a render node and use my old memory for it but 32gb is enough for a node or I'll have the same memory issues ?

Any advices ?

I have some nodes running around with 32gb memory and they run just fine without reporting memory issues on 3ds max scenes where Corona reports issues on my workstation when it had 32gb ram. The workstation is just under a bigger memory load since you are running 3ds Max and probably a few other programs during your work. When I went for 64gb the reports stopped so I would suggest you to go with 64 and you can definitely keep your ram and use it for the node.

The moment your node start crying for more ram just add more but I am sure you won't have problems with it for a while. Nodes are just computers with a sole purpose of rendering free of hundreds of programs we usually have installed on our workstations so they are usually less stressed in terms of memory in 99% of cases...

The most important thing is to find out what specific part of scene (or application) is taking most RAM. In Corona 3 we have a breakdown of various scene parts and their RAM usage: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000023310
You can also try applying some of the tips mentioned in that guide - it should help you save some RAM.

I already try to check my assets, nothing crazy.
But I have a volume fog and few render elements with denoiser on (8-9 lightselect elements, etc..).
Right now I can do the render with enough resolution I need but making the upgrade to 64gb will be still usefull.

About that, in my computer I have 4x8gb G.Skill Flare X 3200Mhz on my Asus Crosshaire Hero VI motherboard and I have to buy 4x16gb.
Which RAM can I buy ?
G.Skill Trident ? Corsair ?

Any advices ?

G.Skill Flare X 2900Mhz C14 (expensive)
G.Skill Trident 3000Mhz C14
Corsair LPX 3200Mhz C16
