Hey Guys!

Are there any plans to bring in different resolutions for the material library? This would be very handy for saving some RAM at render time, some of the maps are 8k in size and most are 4k or 6k. It would be very handy to be able to choose the size of the map you want to use!

Cheers!

Hi,
we will have automatic on-demand load of images in the future, so every image will be loaded in exactly the resolution needed - no need to do this manually

That's interesting. Will this apply to every image or only those from Corona library?

This will apply to all textures loaded by Corona.

Finally there will be a solid reason to start using Cbitmaps :]

So this is going to be something like the "bitmap proxies" in 3ds Max, just done right? ;)

I guess this is technically a feature request, but if Corona had support for tiled (mip-mapped) images, then we would be able to have the flexibility of conserving RAM where we want, instead of needing to physically have multiple resolutions of the same image.

This sounds awesome, do you have any more information on how this will work? I'm interested to know how it will work with things like animations. Would it load in different resolutions at camera distance in a similar way to LOD?
