Hey Guys,

since I started using Corona I always faced the problem with EXR/CXR Files saved from the VFB, that they only contained one Layer when I opened them in Photoshop.
I've installed ProEXR and the test file has opened just fine with multiple Layers.
If I'm saving as a PSD directly from the Picture Viewer the PSD contains all Layers like I'm used to, so it shouldn't be a problem and all the Layers show up in the Image Editor.
So how do I get multilayer CXR/EXR to work with Photoshop?

Regards,

Hi,

Not 100% sure it's possible from the VFB so I'll have to look into it. But, It is possibly from the picture viewer though. I just did a test, after adding my pass layers in the multi-pass settings, changed the saving option to OpenEXR, checked on layers, save. Photoshop opened all my pass layers.

Okay, but is it in this case it's not possible to edit the LightMix, denoise and the other Corona specific adjustments which are possible with a CXR afterwards in the Corona Image Editor, right?
Because the workflow I would like to use is render the picture, then Fine-tune in the Corona Image Editor the Lights, denoise etc. and afterwards do the compositing in PS.
But at the moment i have to choose between having Layers in Photoshop or the possibility to use one of the greatest strength of Corona in my Opinion, the easy editing of Lights etc afterwards.

Alternatively, you could save the .cxr from the VFB open that in the Corona image editor, tweak what is needed then save all. Exporting all layers for use in PS.

Oh, of court, thats a possibility I haven't thought of.
Maybe not the most elegant one, but this will work out, thanks.
Nevertheless it would be great if CXR would contain the Layers, maybe it could be implemented in the future.
Thanks for the help!

Here is what I tried:
-set up a simple scene
-set up lightmix
-enable denoising
-render in Corona VFB
-save in .cxr format using the "save CXR" option (hold LMB over the save button)
-open the .cxr in CIE - works fine
-rename the .cxr to .exr
-open this .exr in PS - works fine, all layers are visible

@OP - can you explain if some of this steps is not working for you, or maybe it is a different issue?

It's not currently possible to save to CXR from C4D, other than through the VFB, sorry. Adding CXR into C4Ds native menu system is more tricky, so is not currently implemented.

I found a solution. You must to on this (look at the attachments). Аfter each completed render - you can find *.cxr in this way C:\Users\@user\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Cinema 4D R20_4FA5020E\corona\history with Date and Time on name of *.cxr file
