Hi,

Is there a way to save .cxr via the render queue?
Using takes and dump exr option is working (*).
But if .cxr options could be implemented in the general tabs of c4d, for further post prod tweaks using the image editor, it shall be more convenient.

* Correction: As takes only works with c4d picture viewer, i don't think one can save a .cxr from the latter.
And dump exr option, will create a .exr not manageable in the corona image editor:  the passes are exported but as black passes.

Hi, could you please describe precisely what you are doing that produces an incorrect .exr file? Maybe share a very simple test scene, that would help us a lot. Thanks!

ok, Houska, i managed to make it work:

1- opened the .exr in the image editor
2- used the saved all command to transform it as .cxr.
3- Reload the .cxr.

Cheers,

This is interesting. So how are you saving the .exr file the first time - I mean before you open it in Corona Image Editor? This looks like something that we should fix...

I made a test on a low rez (800x600) picture yesterday. My method was working.
Then i tried it with a big rez render (5000x..) with an exr, that, when opened in photoshop show all the pass (including
Lightselect one). And opening in corona image editor did not make the retain of thoses ones. The 5000px exr is very heavy.

Could you please show me a screenshot or video of how you are saving the .exr image in Cinema4D? It's important to know so that we can fix it...

Hi Houska,
I attach a free very simple test scene i took from the internet and tweaked a bit.
The scene is working and i created  rayswitcher mats which prove, rayswitcher and alpha are working (first attachement and not directly this thread). I also set up Lightselect multipass.

Using the corona image editor, i'm not abble to reproduce the transformation of final Multipass .exr file in .cxr I was talking previously, as i get an error message (cf second attachement): 'STOP@..\...' when opening the final result (.exr multipass) and trying to make a save (not 'save all') as i said below, choosing the .cxr extension .

I'm sure i did succeed in doing this two days ago, but as i also had the max image editor installed, i probably made a mistake and load the .exr file in this app. Not the c4d one. Now i'm not able to test the max editor, as it won't load (45 days free licence is expired for me).

Cheers,

Shall it be possible to implement a direct .cxr save in the c4d picture viewer?

As said, Takes do retains the whole multipass renders in the c4d picture viewer which is not possible with the corona viewer.
Then it would be possible to save in those renders with the .cxr extension for further work in the c4d corona image editor.
