Hey all, anyone else experiencing this? Max 2017 did some sort of "security update" last night for me, and I now find I can't rename render elements (for any render engine).

I should add that what is happening is that I keep getting keyboard shortcut results rather than text entry once I have the render element field in "rename" mode - I can rename objects ok. Been a while since I last tried to rename a render element so not sure when this started happening.

Tom, are you still having this issue? I could never reproduce this, but maybe my Max is not up to date?

Yes, still happening to me :( Version 19.0 SF according to the About in Max. I hadn't tried renaming a render element for a while, so not sure when this cropped up. Pretty sure it's a Max thing since it happens to all render elements irrespective of render engine.

I was thinking there might be some setting in Max to "always override to use a keyboard shortcut" that could have become enabled - renaming objects still works fine though.

I see this also in a fresh 3ds max 2018 without Corona. This happens just directly in the list view - not in the edit field. I submitted a bug report report for this to Autodesk.

Good to know, and ty for submitting to Autodesk! Hadn't tested in 2018 yet, a shame that it's still happening. Fingers crossed for a fix soon, it's especially inconvenient for LightMix I think.
