Hey guys,

This is gonna be my on-going thread where I'm going to dump my material tests and explorations based around recreating materials from photographic references.

This is my inaugural post! I saw this reference photo someone had posted here on the forum(Sorry I can't remember who/what it was for) and I really liked the floor and i tried to see if I could push myself to recreate the bowed nature of the boards and the interesting reflections.

All images I post will be straight out of the VFB with no photoshop; Let me know what you think or what I could improve!

Cheers.

TomG, can you share secret to your seemingly perfect memory? :] I certainly could use a trick or two, because my memory is like a bottomless well - whatever i put in it, disappears in an instant :/

Nice floor material BTW!

New little side project! I saw this photo of a Barcelona house while I was stopping by Archdaily http://www.archdaily.com/777115/house-ab-barcelona-built-architecture and got the idea to see how closely I could recreate the image. Here are the results; render followed by the reference!

Notes on the project:

It was interesting exercise overall, It took me quite awhile researching and trial and error matching the camera perspective and focal length

As I didn't want to spend an obscene amount of time on it, the goal was to recreate the lighting quality and perspective as much as possible rather than trying for absolute accuracy on materials, so there is a bit of discrepancy in that regard.

That being said, l I wish I could have found a more accurate high res texture for the floor to ceiling oak panels.

Let me know what you think!

*Edit. also does anyone know how to edit the thumbnail preview for a post?
