I'm curious if it's possible to reload a Corona EXR in the VFB and have control over exposure, lightmix, etc after other images have been rendered. This would be ideal if I were to run a batch render of several views and I could open the EXR to correct any lighting issues. If this has been discussed at length I apologize, I haven't found the thread.

Not currently possible, but noted in this post was that a standalone denoise/postprocess/lightmix application is being developed for that kind of use:

I understand that this will be implemented in a standalone application.
Is it also planned to to allow loading the EXR into the VFB within 3ds max ?

yes it is possible, at least for post production.
It is Dubcat who wrote this workflow in a detailed post so all credits to him. I did not find the specific post in time.

But:
-load your EXR into the background of a viewport, make sure AA is switched of in the properties of the bitmap.
-render the viewport with 1 pass
-do your post production, make sure not to over exaggerate exposure.
-save your image

Ah yes that indeed answers the OP that aimed at doing post processing 
The reason I want to load exr into the vfb is actually quite different : When I finish a hires render that took hours and then I need to change a small part of the image it is very useful to be able to :
 - Load the EXR in the vfb, disable refreshing
 - Region render only the modified parts
 - re save the EXR
This way I have my EXR updated with all its elements in a fraction of the time it would have taken to re render the whole image

I think you can use a mix of "continue rendering from file" + "render selected" for this. Not sure how exactly it works though, haven't tested (yet).

Thank you maru.

I tried your method on my current project because as always, I had last minute changes of vey localized areas of the images :)

So I took care to save a dump EXR of my render.
I resumed the render from the EXR, stopped it, defined a render region for the modified area and rendered. This wotks locally, but if I render in DR the rest of the image outside the render region is re-rendered again. So I have no option but to render only on my workstation.

Also I had some lens effects applied and these don't get updated on the whole image neither.

Is loading the exr in the frame buffer similar to how it works in vray going to be implemented?
