Hi guys,

We are really excited to announce the new Area Lights feature is now released for our 3ds Max Connection and it supports Corona.
I love how the Corona interactive view updates - blending between changes.

Here is a brief demo of how our new connection works.

It can save a huge amount of time to get your lighting right.
I hope you like it.

Thank you for the support of the Corona team with licenses etc for us to make this happen.

Happy lighting!
Mark

Hm! What a coincidence. I was just asking a question about HDRLS and Corona. Is Corona fully supported?
Edit: Seems like it is! Now there's just the small matter of motivating the price increase for the customer. :D

Hi, you should probably contact Lightmap for specific help, but I guess this is a good starting point: http://help.lightmap.co.uk/hdrlightstudio5/

I have 3ds max 2016, Corona Render (1.5 daily build) and HDR Light Studio demo with live connection.
Every time i get the exact same error  :/

I wrote to Lightmap, but maybe you know where is the problem?

I do not, but as I noted earlier, you should probably contact Lightmap regarding any problems with their applications. Corona 1.5 could be the problem. Does it work with 1.4 or 1.3?

I'm looking to use HDR Light Studio with Corona as my renderer, but this demo doesn't show how you created the hook - which HDR needs in order to made the connection.

In VRay you use a Dome Light and put any old HDRI in the slot for HDR-LS to connect, but in Corona, there isn't a Dome light so what do you do ?

Can you use a VRay Dome light ?  I suspect not.

And the Scene explorer in the demonstration, whilst open to view, doesn't show any Dome Light at all.

So how ?

******* UPDATE *******

I found the HDR seemed to make the connection itself automatically, so there is no need to use a Dome Light :)

(I didn't see how it did that, but one minute it wasn't connected, then the next minute it was).

Do as following:
- Scene -> use 3dsmax Enviroment
- put into 3dsmax env map a Corona Bitmap with a temporary hdri (any hdri you want)
- launch HDLS/3dsmax connection
- it'll hook map automatically, instead select it

That's it.

Thanks for that.

How I found it actually working was that in the HDR Light Studio Connection dialog box, in 3DS Max, you simply click the New button to create a new IBL Hook and that's it :)
