[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: Corona Material Expansion
« on: 2022-01-18, 10:17:08 »

Hello,

as far as I know, this is not supported at the moment. I've added this as a feature request and we'll discuss it with the team.

Thanks,
Jan

Any news about that? =)

Hello,

not at the moment, we are fully focusing on v8 features and bugfixes. This will probably be shifted to a later release.

Thanks,
Jan

Hi,

can you please further elaborate what "refuses" to install means? Does the installer finish? Does the installer crash? Does the installer state some errors in its log?

Thanks,
Jan

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Further fate of the Legacy
« on: 2022-01-18, 10:10:32 »
Hello,

we want the users to use Physical material as much as possible, but there are no immediate plans to remove Legacy material at the moment.
If and when it is removed, Material Library assets will have been fully replaced by physical material ones.

Thanks,
Jan

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Plugin Error: Corona Core
« on: 2022-01-14, 11:21:40 »
Hello,

I cannot unfortunately reproduce this, it is possible that some textures are causing this - Could you zip the folder with the textures and upload that to us?

Additionally, after you get the crash, could you follow the https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/12000033461-how-to-report-issues-c4d guide to collect BugReport.txt for us and add that also?

Thanks,
Jan

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Plugin Error: Corona Core
« on: 2022-01-10, 10:28:21 »
Hello,

this is a generic error message and it is impossible to know what happened from only a screenshot.

Please, if you can, share the scene that caused the crash with us. If not, provide us with the following information:

What C4D version are you using?
What Corona version are you using?
What OS version are you using?
What are the computer specs?
What are the steps that one could take to arrive at this error?

Thanks,
Jan

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: NaN
« on: 2022-01-04, 09:56:50 »
Hello,

we are aware of a NaN caused by "visible in reflections" turned off and we are working on a fix.

Thanks,
Jan

[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: Corona Sky issue with reflections
« on: 2022-01-03, 09:42:53 »
Hello,

we are working on this. As far as I know, the latest stable version (v7 hf2) does not produce this NaN, so that can definitely be used as a fallback

Thanks,
Jan

Did you set the Viewport IR detail level to 100%? (On windows, there's a cogwheel button next to it in Corona Menu, on Mac it has a bit different icon)

Thanks,
Jan

Hello,

we do not want users to use the material incorrectly, that's the short answer.

For Translucency, enable Thin Shell (no inside) in General Tab
For Thin Absorption, enable Thin shell + refraction
For Volumetrics, enable either refraction or opacity.

In other cases, these tabs do not make much sense, so that is why they are disabled.

Thanks,
Jan

Hello,

I will log this internally, this is definitely a bug.
However, there is a workaround if you keyframe all problematic frames (all those before the last material change), by pressing the material tag material selection animation node, it will work correctly.

Additionally, if you set the Animation Dope Sheet interpolation to Step (attaching image), this will also fix the issue.

Let me know if I'm not making sense.

Thanks,
Jan

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Corona Decal - Tutorials?
« on: 2021-12-17, 10:09:03 »
Hello,

as Decals are still a daily build feature, we did not yet create any tutorials or articles on it. I believe the best practice would be to try and play around with it to understand.
From my limited understanding - A material/map applied to Decal is projected onto a surface of an object it overlaps, ideal for e.g. graffiti on a wall or even something displaced, such as man-hole covers or refractive, such as windows.

If you need further info, feel free to ask here.

Thanks,
Jan

Are you sure this vdb file is correctly generated? Usually the bounding box is larger than the actual effect.

Thanks,

You can try using global reflection override in Render Settings, and plug the HDRi texture inside Corona Light Material.
