[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: Standalone Network Renderserver

+1 for Deadline

As long as you have the C4D commandline licences and sufficient Corona render node licences then should be good.

Central storage such as NAS and a machine to run the Deadline database are best. Once the initial head scratching of the install is done it’s solid. It’s free for 10 users nowadays.

Yep I think time must be the constant factor.

Personally I think a lot of weird issues across multiple renderers (not just Corona) are C4D 2023 issues (no offcial evidence - but I seem to have had my fair share of troubles on MacOS with 2023)

Ha could soon get to 3000 with a few Corona and Redshift renders :-)

For me the difference in power draw from the wall with the M1/M2 is a big deal right now.

Yep a cryptomatte plugin knows what to do with it. Not designed for manual masking by a human :-)

Cryptomatte in my experience is always like that.

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Proxies
« on: 2023-07-18, 19:22:03 »
Not a scene as such - just, for example, a heavy, multiple item mesh of CAD-type data (e.g. vehicles) that isn't easily made into one mesh plus material selections.

I'm using xrefs but they make the scene so slow to save and open - Corona proxies would be ideal. I tried having the main vehicle in the scene and then having instances of it in the scene (I need different positions for different backplate renders) - but my materials didn't work on the instances - most notibly the decal objects I have set up.

Cheers

Just checking it’s not possible still to make a proxy of a complex scene as is? Still can only be one mesh plus material selections?

Cheers

It looks like it MIGHT be a combinaton of issues on C4D vs MacOS 13.x in combination with the :automated out-of-core textures" in render settings.

Still testing.

Maybe :-)

Currently trying to work out what's starving my C4D/Corona/M1Max on heavy scenes and I THINK its the VRAM aspect of it. So greedy C4D viewport actually ends up starving RAM for CPU and then boom...

Ongoing investigation for me.

If I was buying it would be a long term investment so I'd be getting 192GB. My M1Max with 64GB is stuggling with heavy scenes.

I wouldn't say so on the benchmark, no. Only in real life on heavy geometry scenes.

Yep - the main reason I sit here using the M1Max Macbook Pro for the majority of my Corona/C4D work is the lack of heat, noise and power draw from the wall. Makes such a huge difference in the current energy mess.

Here's the score for the Ultra...
