Didn't have time to play with it too much (maybe more tomorrow) - but super impressed with it so far!

Hiya,

Hope everyone is staying home (where possible) and healthy...

Wanted to share a couple of images from a recent project which used Lightmix to create different times of day/moods for the marketing brochure/website.
Nothing revolutionary, but Lightmix came in super handy for producing many (many) more images than initially planned.

Some other images are on Behance here.

Wow - looks a solid upgrade! Just completed a small project which had different times of day using Sun/Sky... now I have to redo it!

The speaker/ Radio, is a real thing or just a model you came up with.
I like to look of it.

It's the Vifa Oslo - https://www.vifa.dk/products-not-menu/oslo/ - very nice, but quite expensive considering it's basically just a bluetooth speaker! Handsome though.

General CG Discussion / Re: Selecting (Corona) Camera

+1 - another method I frequently use is to switch the viewport to the specific camera (c) and then select the camera or target from the viewport label menu (top left).

[Max] I need help! / Re: Tips on mapping a floor gen floor?
« on: 2020-03-19, 11:06:10 »
I think I've had similar experiences (although not 100% sure) - making a concrete tiled floor, using a single concrete map (see attached).

I couldn't get anything to work with Real-world texture sizes - so ended up using with the tiling of the initial bitmap (I think ending on something like 0.15 as the map was huge). Then used the UVW randomiser to add random offsets and rotation. Finally plugged that into the Corona MultiMap to randomise it across the tiles/planks.

I'm sure someone very technical will point out some issues with this method, but it did the job.

Quick crop render from a commercial interior project... spotted some facetting on the chair which is annoying in retrospect haha

[Max] I need help! / Copy + Paste in VFB - what bit depth?
« on: 2020-03-08, 17:50:04 »
This may be answered elsewhere, but couldn't find it...

When copy and pasting directly from the VFB, what bit depth is captured? I assume it's only 8-bit, but was wondering the difference if I copy and paste into a 16-bit Photoshop file...?

I could be entirely misunderstanding something completely - if so, feel free to re-educate me.

I really enjoyed watching this - some really solid work all round. I think the use of the architects voices was really beneficial too, and drove the narrative really well.

All technically very strong - but a particular highlight for me was the bubbling fountain, and some nice subtle camera work - lovely stuff!

I'm not sure I'd want to live there for fear of the ghost who pulls the blanket from the sofa, and opens the drawers in the kitchen haha.

Absolutely outstanding work, a masterpiece.

Looks super interesting - working on a project at the moment where this will come in super handy (geographic lighting for photomontages / other setups for closer exteriors etc).

Will give it a try and see how it works!

Thanks!

I've never thought about using anything other than an HDR... old habits

Hey Romuald - looking at your quick breakdown images, it looks like you're adding the DOF in post - is this correct? If so, would love to know what plugin you're using (maybe something in After Effects or Fusion?).

When I worked on a short animated project recently, adding DOF in post saved a lot of time over rendering the focus in Corona but didn't look as good! Keep up the great work!

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: IR and autosave
« on: 2020-02-04, 13:52:07 »
+1 to this one, working on a few big scenes that have large Xrefs - so the autosave itself is really quick, but then IR takes an age to restart.

Perhaps a button in advance settings to disable autosave whilst IR is running (if possible?) - have tried different Autosave Maxscripts but have never found one that I like, and this is the only time I want to disable it!
