Quick studio / product practice - the liquid particularly needs more work (both the model and materials), but it was a useful exercise.

122
Use the Material Override function (in Render Setup / Scene tab / Render overrides) - drop your clay material in here.

I’ve had a similar (unexplained) issue recently - rendered on two machines via backburner, one saved out multilayered single EXRs, the other saved each channel as a separate file.

Literally the same render job from Backburner, but this happened consistently over several different camera passes.

Seems like an interesting idea - especially seeing lots of people moving towards C4D in recent years. Not so great if you're outside of the five pilot countries - or if you're already tied into a three year plan...

Lovely work with the landscaping, very natural and wild looking! I remember seeing the project on ArchDaily, the scale is really unusual (in that it looks a bit like a small shed, but it’s actually a two storey building!)

Mmmm... Nice one.
Me too, was highly impressed and greatly moved by architecture. Felt some of the soul Zumthor can engrave in space.
Thanks for moving again

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

The interesting twist with the film by the architect - I didn’t see it until I’d completed about 95% of my homage to the project (I’d only seen photos). The original film shows the rest of the spaces too, which I haven’t gotten around to detailing yet - ultimately my version was about remembering animation/post/editing - and also why it’s posted as WIP!

That's really great, I feel like meditating already! :)
Fingers crossed for smooth progress of this project. Can't wait to see the final version (the current one is great already).

Thanks Maru for your kind words. Might be a while until I can next work on it - but I learnt a lot revisiting moving pictures, and it’s my first animation with Corona too. I also used Fusion for post production for the first time and it was super good, very much recommended!

An architectural short film, based on '湿地旁的禅修馆' - 'Meditation Hall next to the Wetland' by HIL Architects, China.

This is an on-going personal project, started because I hadn't animated anything for a few years and wanted to check I remembered how (this is also why most of the scenes are quite low-res... one day I'll get around to re-rendering at better quality/size) - an eternal Work in Progress... I keep finding new angles, so might add more if time allows!

Created using 3DS Max, Corona Renderer, Blackmagic Fusion and Final Cut Pro.

Soundtrack is 'Western Shores' by Philipp Weigl, licenced under CC BY 4.0 from FMA.

Haha nice exception.

But you could do that with renderstamp... right?

Surely if this is something you do regularly, just make a Photoshop Action to do it? (then you can just point the action at a folder and it’ll add it to a set of images).

If you’re thinking of Corona as a photography-based tool (as I do), this would never be incorporated into a camera. At best, some can add a watermark via an app and wifi sync, but it still wouldn’t be in the camera.

Likewise, I can’t see any photographer wanting to stick a transparency w/ logo on the glass of their lens (the equivalent of adding a plane in front of the camera).

Been tinkering with this side project for a while (based on a design by HIL Architects) - mainly wanted to produce something a bit darker than my usual...

It might eventually become an animation - depends on time (both time to complete, and time to render animation frames...)

I also screen recorded a few hours when I started the project, so that could pop up somewhere too.

As above - a simple way to do this would be to construct the material as it would be with colour/reflection/shadow - and render out a Shadow and Reflect element, as well as some sort of mask/alpha for the object.

Then in Photoshop, mask out the object for filling (or render a matching image without the object at all) - and overlay the Reflect and Shadow elements as Screen (or similar) mode.

There's probably a more technical way to achieve it, but it's a start!

I’ve recently been finding lots of things involving Undo cause Max to crash (whether using IR or just navigating scenes!) - I’m trying to untrain myself from jumping straight to Ctrl-Z because it became such a problem!

Amazing images. The fact that they are a mix of CG and photography definitely adds to realism!

Thanks Maru! We'd initially hoped to produce all photomontages, but some parts of the site were inaccessible to take a photo to match! For the more CG views there were still features that were essential to show as close to reality as possible (such as some of the feature trees). It was tempting to try and build matching trees in GrowFX or similar - but it was more suitable to photograph the tree from multiple angles so I always had something I could layer in Photoshop.

Morning all,

Wanted to share a recently completed project, which has a mixture of full CGI and camera matched photomontages - plus some hybrid images something between the two. Photography was completed on a site visit, with drone support from my good friend at Fly and Webb (https://www.flyandwebb.co.uk).

The basic architecture was initially modelled in Revit by the architect (linked files via Dropbox working a treat), which I then camera matched to the existing landscape in 3DS Max. RailClone and ForestPack were use extensively for landscaping and detail around the site. All rendering was in Corona, with compositing in Photoshop with additional post production using Nik Collection tools.

More at https://jameslawley.co.uk/Pendower - including a quick process example of one of the photomontage images.
