Dome Mapping with Chaos Corona for Cinema 4D

Using HDRIs to light our scenes look great, but sometimes our 3d objects can look like they are floating. But, now we can use Dome Mapping as our projection type and this will make our ground flat and keep our object in place.

Hi there, I'm more than happy to present your request to the developers. We make no promises however at this stage. Thanks for your request :)

Well there you go! ;)

Thanks. I started working again. Odd. If it happens again, I'll send it in.

Okay, thanks for keeping us posted. Let's hope it doesn't happen again. ;)

Okay, I understand. Please feel free to share their response in the case that it may assist others. That is of course, it's doable ;) Finger's crossed :)

Thanks for confirming here and in our ticket. As mentioned, I will report this on your behalf. So thanks for bringing it to our attention. :)

Personally, I am also not sure about this. Have you tried asking the MAXON support at all? Hopefully, someone here may have a solution for you. :)

Hi there,

I can only assume that this is how it would also work in the real world, no? Volumetrics diminish things. You may need to play around to find the right balance between the volume distance and the desired reflection amount. Is the scene to scale? Alternatively, adding a Reflect pass in the multi-pass may help recover your reflections in post.

Hopefully, others may have a workflow that may suit you. ;)

Attached is a basic test.

Hi there,

Perhaps sharing a stripped back version of your scene might be an idea for us to see what is going on? If you wish to do so, please feel free to use the link in my signature below. ;)

Okay, thanks for letting me know. I hope to hear from you soon :)

Can you check if the details are only lost during IR or does it also happen with the final render?

Hi Lorenzo,

Thanks for sharing the outcome. We're glad to hear that all is working again. :)

Could it be your lighting at play? It looks more like rubber than leather to me.

I'm not sure you're being clear either ;) Perhaps a vid of this will help? Also, did you mean something like this?

Hi frv,

Thanks for your message. Are you able to supply a test scene that showcase these issues? Also, I am creating a support ticket on your behalf. Please feel free to continue the conversation there. Hope this helps.
