[Max] I need help! / Re: Displacement Map
« on: 2022-10-31, 21:06:45 »
I would just model it, or use 3ds max's displacement modifier on those selected curve vertices just fit the gizmo so it fits at the bend, and then just collapse it down to mesh

[Max] I need help! / Re: Camera render not rendering

Hmmmm, what have you tried?
Does it still happen when you make a new camera?
Does it still happen when you render in perspective view?

You could always merge your geometry into a new scene.

Great job! The transitions between the helicopter shots and the rendered sections are pretty great.

Were you involved with getting the helicopter shots coordinated as well?

Hah, I would be asking for a refund from my panel installers if they had that left that many scratches and smudges on my metal panels. Sometimes less is more :D

Good compositions otherwise

The second looks the best out of the three. Composition wise having so much bare wall on the left of the frame is a detriment though.

Also, moon gates are Chinese not Japanese :D

Crazy impressive. You designed the architecture yourself? The detail work is fantastic.

Oh my bad. But then again, even ForestPack was only able to precompute this last time I checked.

I voted for the following in order of importance.

Edge Trimming >>>>>>> Render time displacement support > clustering

1. Edge trimming
(out of all the options listed this is the one would save me the most time in my process.)

2. Render-time displacement support
(I was surprised how few people have voted for this feature, not having render time displacement support limits the use cases of where you can use chaos scatter)

3. Clustering is important for having natural scatters

[Max] I need help! / Re: Stain glass Window effect
« on: 2022-05-12, 00:50:35 »
Here is my quick and dirty faked method.

1. Create a target  3ds max standard directional light set shadows to caronaShadows, set it to rectangle shape and give it your stained glass texture in the projector map slot and aspect slot.
2. create your stained glass window material with self illumination with your stained glass texture, change it's object properties so it doesnt receive or cast shadows
3. align your directional light so it is in the same position as your window.
4. add volumetrics.

So, explain me why on the Corona 8 daily build RC4, i couldn t find the toggle you have mentioned? Check attachment

Tks

Ah my bad didnt realize you were referring to the cameras in the new version

41
Hello everyone,

Might be a stupid question, but how can make the camera parameters inside the Corona Camera work. I have only found a "global exposure parameter" on VFB and cannot find any toggle to switch between "Global" and "Corona Camera" settings.

Tks!

are you wanting to use camera-styled exposure controls, or do you mean tone mapping overrides per camera?

If you want camera exposure controls under the camera's menu under the photographic parameters there is a radial button that says use photographic (ISO), then all the exposure controls will be controlled by ISO and f stops. If you are looking for per camera tone mapping, it's in the tone mapping sub-menu and click the override check box.

Also this forum thread is only meant for discussing the daily builds, there is an I need help section that you should post in the future.

What do your current attempts look like?

Also do you have a large scale photographed precedent image you are trying to replicate?

With these two things I can give you some feedback, but otherwise, it's to broad of an ask to give any meaningful help.

43
hello i had a similar issue but when I opened the effects tab I found a tremendous amount of "brightness & contrast" added and i cant seem to know how to delete them all at once there's no option of selecting multiple by pressing shift or cntrl

If there are really that many I would just merge the file into a new scene entirely.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Glass banding
« on: 2022-03-16, 00:18:02 »
Looks correct to me, I think it just looks weird at theese particular proportions of glass , if you increase the height of the box while in interactive render mode I think it will become clear how it is working physically.

45
does it have something to do with 'stepping angle'? or 'stepping percentage'?

Nope stepping controls the increments that are randomly selected in your transformations.

for example if you make the stepping angle 15% it will choose only the angles divisible by 15 between 0 and 360 ( 15, 30,45,60, etc...).

But the scattering flying in the air is definitely weird , since I cant see it happening anywhere else on your  surface. There is nothing obvious about your settings that seems out of place . Are you using any kind of displacement on your scatter surface?

With problem solving these kind of issues I like to start simple and go through the different parts that could be contributing to the problem one by one.
Like try changing your scatter surface to a flat plane, collapsing your meshes, remove the Corona Distance map, Reset Xforms, check displacements. This feels like a problem that can be figured out by being methodical with your process.
