Hi, I believe this is a C4D issue, not Corona as it wasn't implemented by us. Have you contacted their support? It doesn't work for me either using V5 HF2, V6 Daily, R19, R20, R21 and S22.

Happened to have reported the issue to Maxon last week and they say it's no issue on their end.
After removing all plugins one by one it was only fixed after uninstalling Corona unfortunately.

We're running Corona 5 Hotfix 2 on Windows 10 machines.

HDR Light Studio for sure is a good choice,
and/or depending what you need to do, there is also Q-TILE-PRO a good optional tool, to setup hdri images in layers and tune them interactively,
it handles both, materials and 32bit hdri input for lights.

We ourselves use our plugin Q-TILE-PRO for light and hdri tuning, as it works great not only for materials but also with hdri in lights and skydomes:)
so i put one or more hdri in a base layer and then some extra hdri light images or hdri colors in shapes in layers above which i can freely move, to get the light mood i want.

i am c4d user too and use it myself use that for archviz type of scenes in corona and v-ray,
but it works also on studio setups.

cheers
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

using Q-Tile for HDRI Maps sounds interesting!
Would it be possible for you to make a tutorial on how you set that up for your youtube channel?
I bet there are some people who could really use that.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Flo

Hi there, Can you please send us a short video of this workflow?

Private Uploader:
https://corona-renderer.com/upload

Thanks for having a look! I uploaded a quick video - I hope that helps.
If the process is still unclear I can try to type it step by step to help.

Uploaded file name is: 1574857304_Render-Settings-Parent-Child.mp4

Just bumping this to the top one time - should this topic be moved to bug reports or feature requests to get some attention?`
Or is this just the expected behavior and can't/won't be changed?

[C4D] General Discussion / Render Setting - Child Presets
« on: 2019-11-20, 11:12:23 »
Hi all,

I'm setting up a file that will be used to render product shots.
I'm using multiple child render presets to output for different needs.
e.g.: low-res, low quality .jpgs for previews / high-res, high quality .psd for finals / 250 frame .png sequences for 360° video / ...

My problem is, that when I'm setting up the tone mapping of the scene (simple exposure, EV, highlight compression,...) in the main render preset,
these values do not update in the child presets. C4D settings, like resolution, do update when changed in the main setting.

Additionally when multiple presets are selected you can't change the tone mapping values at all, the just disappear.

Is this a bug or intended behavior and if so, how could I avoid having to manually update all child presets?

Thanks a lot and best regards,
Flo

EDIT: I'm running Windows 10, C4D R21.026 with Corona 4 hotfix 3, no notable additional plugins installed

This issue is easily reproducable so if needed I can provide bug-reports or anything.

I just tried to change the camera object during IR both through stage object with keyframes and by switching takes with different camera assigned and both methods worked fine. IR changed the camera view with no crash.

I admit that my scene was super simple besides what I describe (as is always the case - fixing bugs is easier on a simple scene), so the crash might be caused by something else yet.

C4D R19 Win + Corona internal 5.0 daily

WorkFlow, if I may ask - a scene where we would be able to reproduce the issue would be great! Thank you!

I have to admit the issue has gotten better with the final release of Corona 4. With the older Dailies it was often a single camera-switch that caused a crash and now I honestly had to switch back and forth between the takes a bit until it crashed. But that's the only wildcard - it almost always crashes when doing that, it's just a matter of when it does.

I used the private Uploader (file: 1562048114_BugReport.zip) because the scene content is not yet meant to be public. I included the scene plus the whole bug report folder C4d created.

Thanks for taking the time and checking this.

anyone else have this crash in Corona4?:
C4D crashes when in interactive render, changing camera with frames in a stage object. So I have 20 cameras's, each on a next frame in a stage object (for sending to renderfarm). When interactive rendering on frame 1 switches to next frame, c4d crash every time...

yes, I confirm

This crash also happens with the take system and the interactive renderer.
I have a setup with some takes using different cameras, others only changing materials of objects.

When using IR and switching takes during render everythign runs smoothly when only the materials change, but when you switch to a take with a different cam C4D crashes instantly.

This issue is easily reproducable so if needed I can provide bug-reports or anything.

Follow up:

Could this be linked to the deactivated caustics in the glass materials?
I just noticed on another project, that glass without caustics renders almost invisible in reflections but with caustics turned on it's clearly visible like I would expect it to be.

I don't know too much about the internals of caustics and if this is the intended/expected behavior, I just wanted to point this out in addition to the first post.

[C4D] General Discussion / Bug or User Error?

Hey guys,

loving the commercial release so far, unfortunately I'm not able to use daily builds due to company intern IT-limitations.

Today I came across an issue with incorrect rendering of reflections in chrome surfaces.

The image shows a pendant lamp with chrome upper parts and glass lower parts.
Additionally there are small crystals (actual geomtery with their own glass material) spread across the inner surface of that glas part.
The issue is, that these crystals render fine "directly" but don't show up in the reflections of the chrome parts - the glas bowl and the inner lighting do though...

Now I don't know if this is a bug or if I could resolve the problem myself with some render setting (I honestly haven't tried out that much).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Flo

EDIT: Of course I would be able to upload the scene for the Corona Team to test themselves if needed!

Yes, that's what I am telling you - the X offset works, but not exactly. There is some mismatch between the C4D viewport and the render. But if you change the X offset, the image in the render is offset too. It's just offset incorrectly. We will need to tweak this.

Could that be connected to the bug with the camera projection types?
I reported a bug (ID:0002917) a while ago that when using parallel camera projection and rendering in viewport the results are incorrect (region render and C4D's native interactive render region) but when rendered to Corona VFB or C4D's picture viewer (interactive and final) results are correct.

I also remember someone else reporting some issues with the isometric projection.

Hey guys,
after finally daring to try the daily builds I have to say you're doing an amazing job!
Really loving the quality and speed improvements and the new features added, especially dispersion is a huge one for me!

But unfortunately I might have found a new bug that has not been reported before (at least not in this thread).

When using a camera with parallel projection the result when rendering in picture viewer or IR shows wrong results -> geometry in editor view and rendering don't line up.
When rendering to C4D's picture viewer results are as expected.

As far as I know Corona C4D only displays textures in the diffuse channel. My workaround is to put you e.g. Bump texture in diffuse, set up the mapping and then delete it from the diffuse/turn down it's opacity for later remapping.

I really hope they add the option to check which channel should be used as displayed color/texture in the viewport - I think this feature is already in the full version anyways.

Yea I was also kind of surprised at first when I noticed Corona didn't support that feature, but well...one of the few downsides of only beeing an Alpha for now :-)

Glad I could help even tho you figured it out yourself anyways!

Hey Fythos,

as far as I know you are not doing anything wrong!
Problem is, that Corona does not yet support stacking several materials on one object.
That means Corona will always only render the top material (most right in the object manager).

A workaround I used when I worked on a similar project:
Duplicate your bottle object and scale it slightly larger (0.01%) than the base model.
Assign the glass material to the original model and the label to the larger one.
Downside to this is, that depending on the size difference you will get shadows between the label and glass.

If this is old information, please anyone, let me know! :-)

The colors and the photographic feel are really great with this set!
Good job!

One thing bothers me though:
The door handle on the front door (the one in the kitchen) looks like it's flipped around :D
