I have got a same problem.I try to everything. We started to deal with the objects on the scene one by one. We re arrange multiscatters as corona scatter. Maybe somehow we can get rid of it. In fact there’s not much on the scene. Everything is in order as it has to be.

We also have got few multiscatters in the scene.
There was some issue connected with multiscatter and memory leaks in Corona - but it was adressed few versions away, if I remember well, and everything seemed to work with no problem since then (even playing with multiscatter parameters in Interactive doesn't cause hang of 3dsmax - very nice feeling :)
The problem we have is that client has already approved and bought many still renders - so we can't change too much in the scene for animation. All we did was recreating trees to be animated, adding few moving cars and people, adding MotionBlur and switching to new Corona (and then using some Glare) ... and the avalanche of problems had begun...

I Havent used backburner in any massive way since bb14 so it might have been fixed but i do remember it being a big problem then.

I will try to look for some info of that issue on Monday. It may be still present. Some problems likes to come back to BB from time to time (like bug with disapearing info what frames were rendered when you restart Manager, which they corrected some time ago - now it meets us every time when computer with manager needs to be restarted.)
What other render_queue_managers you can recommend?

I have forgotten so much crap about backburner haha i wrote my dissertation on the efficiencies of render farms on ad hoc networks versus permanent farms and i literally spent 12 hours a night for about 2 months doing all sorts of ridiculous backburner testing in a building with about 400 i7 machines and a render farm. Im so pleased i raraly have to use it now it was such a pain. i ended up writing lots of my own software to make it less prone to error and easier to use. Unfortunately i havent had to do any animation work in quite some time so im not really the one to ask but ive heard nothing but good stuff about deadline.

Ah right. Well i mean i guess cards would still help as it would drastically reduce the number of polys and light bounces possibly freeing up cpu cycles and RAM for the more intensive stuff?

Understanding photography principles good, understanding art concepts better.

Thats interesting. Do you not think it depends on your end goal. Also ive just noticed youre a retail designer and visualiser. Me too!

yep, retail, 40 renderings a day :) sometimes, but mostly Flagship primo stuff.

But understanding academic Art basic concepts would benefit all.

I know your pain!
I Suppose youre right. Things like colour theory and things like that definitely stretch into various disciplines.

Could browse through the WAP link like i do. Good on your data allowance too :D https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?wap2

Id bet big money that disney optimise their scenes or at the very least work with the render engine to ensure they are working in the best way they can. The longer they spend on the project the more money it costs them so it pays to work smart every time.

It's not so useful. Usually I am looking for 5% of info, but I need to see whole tutorial. May be 2 min. tutorials.
That's actually an idea we have come up with recently. Instead of text + a series of images with explanations, one very short video demonstrating each feature.

The original set you guys did with 1.0 (ish) were very useful!

This whole thing is a little like the old days when some photographers loved the development part and spending time in the darkroom, tweaking the picture. Others loved the photography and the camera and dreaded the darkroom work, trying to get consistent results with as little effort as possible.

IKEA Have their own HUUUUGE 3d department of about 250 people modelling everything across their entire range. I saw a talk from one of their team leaders and he mentioned something that i found quite interesting thats somewhat akin to this. He said that when they merged their 3d and photography teams, the Photographers trained as 3d artists for a year and the 3d artists trained as photographers for a year so that they could work better together and understand why one team did something one way and why the other team worked in a different way. Offtopic but a great little anecdote!

Honestly i think that thread could be addressed with a simple video tutorial series explaining each feature and what it could do.
Im surprised nobody has jumped on the bandwagon and submitted one to digital tutors yet quite frankly!

As i understand it, Corona is a different way of looking at rendering that has never really been seen before. Simply because its so user driven and the team listens to the devoted community it has and the daily builds and trials are so accessible to everyone.
I love that the interface is stripped back and i can rely on the solid maths behind the engine to take care of 80% of the stuff that i dont need to touch that is spread all over the interface in MR & Vray. I get that for some users it can be intimidating because it doesnt often work like other engines, especially if they have migrated from never having used anything other than Vray and it can be hard to relinquish the 'control' that alot of the other renderers have but in my opinion alot of the controls in their interfaces are there because of hangovers from when rendering something progressively wasnt possible because of hardware limitations and you had to cut corners and fake stuff. Now we dont need to do that, theres no need for all the extra bullshit. Trust the algorithm xD

use Corona 1.6 and save your life !! :]

This should be your new forum signature maru xD

You must remember you need to also optimise your scenes when it comes to animation in corona (any renderer to be honest). You cant expect to be able to throw hundreds of millions of polys at a renderer like this on a consumer level machine, Farm or no farm, and expect it to handle it immediately and with ease. Its all about knowing where to cut corners, optimise and compromise to achieve a good balance. I don't mean that to sound patronising by the way! But alot of the memory use problems ive ever experienced since A6 have been down to me not optimising properly.

If you have trees stratching far into the distance or quite far from the camera, render out some cards. whether it be top down so you can just see moving foliage or side on.
Then apply the renders to some planes and scatter those in the distance. Its used widely in VFX and saves you loads of time. plus theyre reuseable!
