Hi

I want to use Corona Ray Switch material in order to lit the scene with emitting light mesh and to use material with self illumination to override direct/reflect/refract appearance of this mesh. There is no problem with reflect/refract override, but it doesn't work with direct override material - it's always gets light from the Light material and looks overburned.
On attached picture you can see example of this problem - sphere has CoronaRaySwitch material, box on foreground has refractive material, box on background has reflective material.
I don't know is it a bug or just matter of some specific settings, but would be grateful to get some help

I would like to use black viewport background in 3DS Max, but in this case lights which are switched OFF become completely invisible, because they are black. I didn't fine any way to change it. Customize UI offers change of switched ON lights color only.

Do you have any ides how to do change the color of switched OFF light?

Hello

I work mostly with exterior visualization and I use ForestPack for greenery instancing. Almost in every project I have the same problem using IR - if FP's objects (especially grass which normally covers large areas in my project) are not hidden, viewport performance gets dramatically low - even if FP's objects are not renderable and amount of displayed items is pretty low. If they are hidden viewport performance gets normal. I tried to find better solution than hide FP objects every time I want to use IR, and the one I found is switch viewport appearance of the instances to some proxy type from the default Points-Cloud.
I believe solution of this problem should be done by Itoo, but maybe would be good if Corona team will contact them about this issue which connected with Corona's IR.
Hope this information will help to the ones who has this problem, of course if I'm not the only one who has it :)

During last half of year I have the same kind of problems after some Windows updates - Max UI reset to defaults, all custom settings reset, user external paths reset either.
Ok, I have saved to files UI settings and normally I was not happy, but was able to get my settings back. Last Windows update reset Max UI again, but this time I can't get back part of my settings. I mean I can restore them, but after I close Max they get back to default ones.
Did you guys have same kind of problems?

Hello!
I need to light up some objects in my scene and do not light other objects. It's easy to do using include/exclude option in Corona lights. But problem in my case is that objects excluded from the lighting of Corona lights still cast shadows from these lights. Attached picture explains problem better than words. As you can see, sphere is excluded from lighting, but still cast shadows to the floor. Is it possible somehow to get rid off this shadow using Corona lights?
In Vray, for example, if the object excluded from illumination and shadow casting it doesn't cast shadow. Vray lights used in Corona give the same result as Corona lights - no lighting, but shadows are on picture. Mental ray's lights do the trick, but get a lot of noise to the picture, so it's not the solution.
Another option would be switch off shadow casting in object's properties or use CoronaRaySwitchMtl, but I need these object to cast shadows from other lights in my scene, so this is not the solution as well.
I would be grateful if you share your ideas how to solve this problem.

I faced the problem with black outline around the object on saved pictures. Everything is fine with picture in Corona VFB, but on saved pictures outline appears. The same happens if picture copied to the Max VFB from Corona VFB. On attached pictures you can see both VFBs – left sade is zoomed picture from CVFB, left side is the same picture copied to the MVFB – the actual result which I can see on saved pictures whatever image format I tried for it. It's not the first time I get this problem, I tried to reproduce this issue on simple scene, but didn't get the same result

Could you, please, explain what New light solver is, and what is the use of it? I tried it in my scenes, but didn't notice real advantage of it. Please, share your experience if you used it in your work.

Had some problem with IR refreshing in some scenes and found now that the problem connected with Ivy objects created with Guruware's Turbo Ivy plugin. If this object is visible in viewport IR restarts with any action such as panning, zooming, etc.  with viewports which are not supposed to be rendered. It's doesn't matter is this object renderable or not. But if Ivy object is hidden and still renderable using Render hidden geometry, IR works normally. You can check example scene attached here.
Also problem can be solved by converting Ivy objects to poly, but it's not always useful

Do you know guys, is it possible to wire object's Z rotation with Corona/Max Bitmap offset parameter?
I need result like
Rotation of object by 0' = map offset 0
Rotation of object by 180' = map offset 0.5
Rotation of object by 360' = map offset 1

Hello guys!

I work as an architect and visualizer and do my job mostly on single computer. I use commercial render farm to render big size pictures, but most of the time I need to render a lot of medium size exterior images for client's or city's approval. Normally 2.4k pictures are enough, and in this case render farms are not very useful because it takes longer time to clean/prepare/pack/send/receive files for them than to render set of pictures on my computer.
As many of you I have 2,3 or sometimes more project which I have to work on at the same time. In this case most useful workflow is to start render picture in first Max window for one project and work with another one in second Max window doing some modeling or other work which doesn't need intensive CPU's job. But even working like this I need to make some fast renders and all these times I have the same question -

Is it possible to have some kind of switcher which can give let's say 99% of CPU capacity to the rendering which I start in second Max window, keeping 1% of CPU capacity for the  first Max window just to keep rendering running without need to stop and start it again, and give whole CPU power back to the first Max window when I stop rendering in Max window number 2?

I had 32 Gb of RAM on my computer, now I've bough 32 Gb more and installed it today. Windows can see 64 Gb of RAM, but it uses only 32... Screenshots attached
