[Max] General Discussion / Re: CPU performance discussion...
« on: 2018-03-16, 09:55:34 »
nothing wrong with the threadripper - 1950x - as far as i can see.

I'm operating @ 3,5Ghz though, not at the boosted 4Ghz since the PSU is bugging up on me - there's a kernel problem going on, which I think, is MOBO-PSU related, not CPU by itself.. But comp freezes when going over 3,5Ghz. I'm still trying to figure it out tbh. Also 2 memory slots don't work on the MOBO lol so there's something stinky going on.

But all stable @ 3,5Ghz.

MEM: 48Gb
GPU: GEFORCE 1050Ti
CPU: THREADRIPPER x1950
PSU: CORSAIR 550
MOBO: ASUS PRIME X399-A

total price: 2800€ - 3400€ (belgium) - parts ordered from all over europe for cheapest prices (I dont recommend doing this btw)

cinebench: see attahced

if any questions - shoot.

i mean like every few succesful lines he's giving me a few rotten ones saying cannot read write to disk (see attachment)

this is for about 10% of the frames, then i need to restart the proces and hope there's no overlap -

totaly insaine waste of time but ok

thanks for the help so far guys - it's working now, still with errors though - it seems to randomly say to a few frames "error reading file" - although it opens fine?...

ok so i used the corona image editor from corona 1.7 hotfix 2 and i'm still getting an error saying something in the sense of:

Error: "Image """ is missing channel "CORONA FB_WEIGHTS, expected to contain pixel weights"

Then (this is where it gets funny) it states please refer to the help file. There is not even any mention of CORONA FB_WEIGHTS - WHAT THE HELL ARE CORONA FB WEIGHTS?

Personaly I think it's pretty bad that I'm stuck with this for 2 days, that there's no decent video tutorial on how to use this and I'm scraping together info on the forums how to use it decent.

I'm not an IT tech guy, I'm an artistic architectural visual designer - I dont want to occupy myself with this, it's a waste of time, so please help me out so I can move forward for once, I'm puliing nighters to meet my deadlines, this isnt helping me so far..

Srry if I ranted somewhat - I'm tired and I need this fixed.

can someone pls tell me what I'm doing wrong...

see linked video - grts

[Max] I need help! / Re: Animation workflow/setup

if i want to pre render the GI into a file somewhere, don't i need to say for example "every 20 frames" and then store it somewhere? Is this going to create 1 big fat GI file or multiple GI files or do i need to simply render 1 frame from the whole scene without bothering to see everything?...

the new light solver I thought of as well, but this didn't do anything. Changing the enviro sampler did the trick though.

Is it possible to get a link to some reading about these things in Corona? I'm clicking buttons now I don't know what's behind them and it's kind of frustrating.. This is somewhat "under the hood" of the car-stuff  and i'm not sure where to read up on this?

@NicolasC:
"Daniel,
I've just tested, it works like a charm, thanks A LOT for the reminder !
A little prerender script to set all the REs' output to .xxx and here we go :) still waiting for a proper solution out-of-the-box for a future Corona release, but that does the job perfectly for now."

Can you please tell me what to do, step by step, so I can achieve the same? I'm going manic, I have to click all the seperate RE each time I want to send a camera out to RebusFarm, it's driving me mental. Houres and houres of wasted time...

AAAAH I found it, the texture baking in max has an automatic unwrapper included - priceless -

Hey Guys;

Problem: I have a model in 3dstudio max with box mapping mostly.

In unity it's important to have unwrapped models because there cannot be any overlapping mapping - this is to avoid artifacts in lighting and textures...

SO I need to find a script that takes the mapping from my models in max, and automaticaly puts it into a unwrapped mode - with the textures as they were

I have no time to unwrap these models, is there a script for this?

i did - no date on the updated version - "whenever" i suppose :)

194
the script to normalise the render elements to the path of the main render doesn't seem to be supported in the latest max version :( I'll keep looking for something similar then, but thanks :)

holy balls... i've seen so much help over the past few days, it's rendering the-area absolete

thanks
