You perfectly explained my intentions :-)
When the blend material has MtlID=0, Vray makes submaterial IDs appear in the render element.
When the blend material has MtllD different than 0, it overrides the IDs of submaterials.

I am amazed by the fact that just *one* person interacted with this topic. How can you do serious post-processing without masks working properly?
...I think it's currently the biggest flaw in Corona. Please, developers, answer me... will you fix it? I don't think it requires much effort to repair it!
Best,

I just tried it, but it's not good in all scenarios!
I have a workaround with light materials, but a separate render is needed in order to calculate the masks. It' annoying and time-consuming.

Am I the only one in need of this kind of masks...?
For me it's fundamental for fine tuning of colors and reflections with the client...

Hello romullus, thanks for answering!
In your example, you're working with a Multi/Sub-Object material, while I am interested in separating materials assigned with a blend... my materials don't follow polygons.

Hey community!
With the release of Corona 1.3, I hoped that finally materials IDs of sub-materials would be detected by CMasking_masks... see the attached pic: I need that plastic, print and the silver band on the top left appear on different masks. But they do not :-(

In Vray I could get separate masks and that was super useful in compositing.
Am I the only one to be annoyed by this issue? For me it's very important!

Any suggestion to obtain the masks...?
Thank you!

Hey! Apart some noise here and there, your renders are lovely! I like the brick walls, they look very good (but I'd bevel corners: your bricks are worn out, while the corners are too sharp).

Hello! I just want to be constructive with my critics...
I am kind of enthusiastic about animals and for me the most non-realistic thing is the tortoise!

The higher part of the shell (carapace) is good, while the lower part (plastron) is usually much flatter.
The head you modeled is lizard-like; moreover, tortoises have a sort of "beak".
The legs of your tortoise seem to have blisters; those are supposed to be scales!

For example this is Testudo hermanni, which can be found in SE Europe:

That's great to hear! What NGO were you with ?

With a little organization called Amani www.amaniforafrica.it.

Cheers!

Hey! Nice work man!
I think the first image lacks contrast, while I like especially the second one.
The fabrics and the wood look very good.

PS: greetings to Nairobi, I've spent some time in Riruta and Kibera with an NGO.

Thank you!
In the meanwhile, can I install two versions of Corona on the same pc? I could test the scene locally, before submitting it to the farm...

Hey! I am a happy user of Corona FairSaas, and so I'm using the latest version (1.2).

The problem is that the renderfarm which I use (http://www.foxrenderfarm.com/specs-software.html) supports an older version of Corona (not sure if 1 or 1.1).
How can I save/convert my file for it? Any idea?

I'm curious to try your methods!

thank you! That works, but the mask needs some manual cleaning: the map is tiled, and projected on all surfaces.
Is it planned to have it working like in Vray (which seems more logical) in future releases?

[Max] I need help! / mask of blend materials

Hello!
probably someone already asked it, but I cannot find it anywhere in the forum...

Let's say I use a blend material to obtain a simple plastic material with a silver logo stamped on it. How can I make the logo appear in a Material Gbuf ID mask? It seem I can only get the mask of the blend material, not of its two components (while in Vray it was possible).

Any ideas?

angled shape reminds me of the great Serbian architect Peđa Ristić, a strange mix between a hippy and H. D. Thoreau, that during Cold War was living in huts designed and built by himself on the trees in islands on the Sava river, in Belgrade:

As for the renders, I find the wood texture too contrasting too, and a bit confusing; while I like exteriors!
