I honestly would say those results aren't bad - a 12 core pretty much head to head with an 18 core machine does show some modern gains as clock speeds aren't massively different on the new stuff.

2
Just sheer number of cores on the cpu - so best of both worlds… in theory, of course!

This is why I’m holding out for an m3 ultra studio. Should have 32 cores….  Plus raytracing hardware on the GPU for my Redshift life.

@BigAl3D Interested if its the C4D Bitmap vs Corona Bitmap factor?

As usual I’m suffering from documentation blindness and stupidity!

Thank you

…and a mapping randomizer is supported?

Thank you.

Yes - I'd looked through the docs - and the actual C4D mapping isn't mentioned so I thought it best to ask.

Cheers!

[C4D] I need help! / Triplanar clarification

Hi all - can I just get a C4D Triplanar shader clarification? On an object that doesn't have valid UV mapping (e.g. imported CAD) - should my mapping be set to cubic for the results of triplanar to be seen?

Thanks

If I copy an object with a layer material to a new file - the layers break and need reconnecting to the master material. Should this work? Am i being an idiot? Cheers

Sorry - probably described it badly - I’m getting straight items reflected with a kink/wobble… I’ll make a better example 👍

Hi all - Any tips for getting a straightish reflection in a slightly curved mirror? I've deleted the Phong Tag and My UV map is OK... Anything else I can do?

Cheers!

[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: OCIO and ACES workflows
« on: 2023-11-23, 10:31:25 »
I think its very early days for anyone (including me!) to have looked into this closely. Whereas Redshift etc has had true OCIO/ACES for a while and integration into the C4D document color management improvements from C4D 2023 onwards - Corona's ACES has been purely a tonemapping thing.

I definitely need to take some time when I get a break to see how the new Corona changes integrate.

R21?

That's pretty good as it will be running under Rosetta emulation...

I think the best we can predict for now is that it will have 32 cores!

The M2Max vs M2Ultra wasn't a linear 2x performance - but who knows?

I think it will be a great machine and take a fraction of the power from the wall vs a PC equivalent - which is the important factor in my mind right now from a cost of living point of view.

Not in C4D though?
