Hi, yes this is possible with Shadowcatcher.

Check out the official tutorials for Max on our channel, most of the things will be applicable to C4D too:

Hi! There's unfortunately no Linux support at the moment for Corona. Sorry :-(

Hello, dear Coronauts!

Time has come for one of the last daily builds of V6 of Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D!

As one of the highlights, we added the highly requested distance shader, so it should now be much easier to create various special effects, which depend on proximity to other geometry. Be it moss, dirt, water ripples, fog, etc... - the possibilities are vast!

As promised the last time, we fixed quite a few issues with the node editor, so we would be happy if you tested it out and told us whether you are still experiencing any troubles with it.

We also decided to add collection of anonymous usage data in order to have more information about where we should concentrate our development efforts. This feature is optional and can be disabled at any time. For more information, see https://corona-renderer.com/about/privacy-notice#toc-product-usage-data

For the full changelog, see the link at the bottom of this post.

Hello, dear Coronauts!

we are finally releasing another daily build of Corona Renderer 6 for Cinema 4D. Apart from several invisible changes under the hood, we were able to include the new environment sampler, which obsoleted the Portal Material. Apart from that, there are a bunch of bug fixes.

We're still improving node editor under the hood, so expect some node editor fixes in the next dailies.

Changes in Corona Renderer 6 for Cinema 4D (Daily Build 2020-05-06) (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Pq54oK-EGac_z0VdV05VfsSsG54I1Qkn):

  • Fixed:
    • Fixed bug where object base material was being rendered transparently when another material was stacked over it with disabled tiling
    • Fixed environment override not being applied to a fully visible Corona Sky
    • Fixed bug where changing sky material visibility didn't affect the corresponding Corona Sky visibility
    • Corona and C4D sun visibility is correctly handled now, both in IR and in non-IR
    • Fixed bug with incorrect mapping of displacement when last material with no displacement uses different mapping than material with displacement
    • IR now reacts to movement of a keyframed camera
    • Fixed black viewport previews in S22
    • Fixed problem with Ray Switcher material not showing in viewport
  • Added:
    • Added new adaptive environment light sampler based on the one in V-Ray
      • Noise clears up to 2x faster in interior scenes in general; up to 9x faster in certain extreme cases.
      • The new solver is now used as default for all new and old scenes.
      • This solver removes the need for portals.
  • Changed:
    • Removed portal material, because it is no longer needed due to new adaptive environment light sampler

Hi Nejc!

This seems to be working fine for me. Here, I'm mixing the yellow color with red, green and blue in the Triplanar Shader and it seems to work correctly. Could you maybe share a simple scene where it fails for you?

Any news related to black material on S22? Viewport is actually almost 50% smoother, but you can't check the true performance through this error.

We found out the culprit and are testing the fix. It will most probably appear in the next daily, which should appear soon...

I see...

Another option that comes to my mind is using a MoGraph Effector to change the color of the individual instances and then reference that color using C4D's Display Color shader, which you can use in you material to somehow colorize the material for instance. But of course, it's a bit different thing than assigning a completely different texture.

Hi, this is an interesting request. I am afraid it's not possible using Corona Multi Shader. You could have some luck with what Cinemike suggests though...

What are you trying to achieve actually? I suppose you can't just group the objects into groups and assign the materials to those groups?

Thanks, djstevanovic ;-)

Glad it worked for you! I'll just add here that uninstall should not be necessary in case you'd like to keep R19 with Corona

13
Hi! It's hard to tell without knowing the specifics.

What exactly are you comparing? Is the scene empty? Etc...

You can use the license for any version of Cinema 4D, you just mustn't use them at the same time.

Hi dipozzo. So you have bump mapping in some of your materials? It's hard to say what's happening in the scene without seeing it.
