Hi guys,
I am using Corona 1.3 release.
As you can see in the attached images, the displacement looks odd in the interactive rendering window, but it renders fine. Also, I noticed that displacement precomputation (in interactive mode) doesn't use all of my 4 cores and takes quite long.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Corona material preview too dark
« on: 2014-01-19, 00:09:15 »
The preview of one particular material suddenly became dark, like shown in the first picture. The other material was fine.
Then teapots (from the scene) appeared in both materials :)

I have uploaded the scene, just in case: https://db.tt/P3NGqLhx

Sometimes a warning message appears when I hit the stop button in Corona VFB. Then, if I click "Yes" Max crashes.
I am using the latest build, but this happened with earlier builds, too.

The scene is a simple room with a portal in the window, a daylight system with Corona sun in it, and Corona Sky in the environment slot.
Sometimes these black dots appear which don't go away no matter how many passes I wait. Then, when I re-render the scene they are gone. Then appear again.
Also, for some reason they turned out white when I saved the image. So I made a scheenshot to show how they looked.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Corona Mtl rollout behaviour
« on: 2014-01-09, 01:03:11 »
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but Corona material does not seem to remember the current state of the rollouts (open or closed). For instance, if I open the self-illumination rollout and then close and re-open the material editor, the rollout will be closed again.
I am using the latest build 1.08.

After a bit of experimenting I noticed that the Hybrid shadow mode in Corona material ignores the Absorption distance and colour and the shadow is always very light and colourless, as if the object were made of plain clear glass. I rendered the same scene in Mental Ray to see how it would render the shadows. It turns out that by default Mental Ray uses these fake shadows for non-opaque objects, but they look more plausible because they take into account the colour of the object (see attached pictures).
So my question is whether it is possible to implement something like that in Corona?

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Glass object artifacts
« on: 2014-01-07, 18:49:32 »
Hi guys!
So I am making these simple kitchen scales. Currently they are made up of two objects – the glass top (a chamfered box) and a white plane underneath (which is placed some 0.5 mm below the chamfered box). When I rendered it with the glass material refraction mode set to “One-sided (solid)” it looked great, with very realistic shadows and nice caustics. But my only problem with it is that it is too noisy compared to the rest of the image and requires more passes before the noise goes away (Image 1).
When I set the refraction mode to “Hybrid”, it appears much less noisy (the absence of the shadows is not a problem for me), but produces these strange dark stripes in the shape of a cross (Image 2). I wonder what the cause of this might be. Any ideas?
