[Max] I need help! / Noise Limits
« on: 2022-09-27, 15:33:24 »
Hello!

Just a quick question, regarding noise limits.

What are people noise limit settings? I have been using 4% when rendering out scenes at 2880x1920 and adding a denoise at 0.5. What would people recommend?

The images are mainly used for web and sending to clients before building starts.

Thanks for the help in advance!

[Max] I need help! / Post Production Workflow

Hello!

I have been working on a number of interior renders over the past few months, but I have been struggling with the post production side and what way will give me the best results.

I normally set up all my lights and separate them with light select. My render passes then have the beauty pass, reflect, refract, ID, bloom and glare, all of the different lights I use and the interactive light mix. I would then put this into photoshop where I would overlay the lights on the beauty and use screen mode and a slight bit of camera raw for the base pass. (Normally save all the passes from corona image editor as a JPG) But I haven't been sure what one to use as my base. The beauty pass or light-mix pass as my base render?

Any help on this or any other post production ways to get the best results would be supper helpful!!

Thanks again in advance!

Hey!

Really love the lighting on these! Would you be able to share your setup and camera setting for these? (Trying to create smooth lighting in interiors)

Amazing work, Keep it up!

Work in Progress/Tests / Bedroom Scene
« on: 2022-07-02, 23:00:18 »
First time posting in a while. Working on a set of interior renders for a client and he wanted a bedroom scene like I have shown in this image. Would like some feedback on the render! (Tonemapping/overall render/any changes)

All feedback is helpful since I need to do 4 more in different rooms!

Thanks

PS : (Using a 3D collective LUT and also for the downlights the corona standard IES)

[Max] I need help! / Re: Adding Depth to Archviz Images?

Ohhh thanks a lot for these tips, Ill be sure to give them a try tomorrow and post the results!

Don't suppose you would be able to tell me a bit more or even post a screengrab of what you mean by map tones (Sorry if that sounds stupid hahah)

[Max] I need help! / Adding Depth to Archviz Images?
« on: 2022-04-30, 19:13:34 »
So I have been struggling with adding more depth/atmosphere to my scenes.

The example I have attached shows a current one I am working on. I need to show how far back the large tube is, currently in this render is seams very close to the house, when in reality it is quite the way back.

Is there anything people would suggest? (I was thinking possibly atmospheric fog or aerial perspective)

For the sky I have been using HDRI's from PGSkies.

I also need to show trees in the background of the field, but when I add these it feels like they are directly behind the render when they are far back!

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies to the questions! really helps a lot. I will have a test around with the results and report back!

(PS. The image of the space ship was just an example hahaha, But it could be a new design haha)

[Max] I need help! / Best Render and Noise Settings
« on: 2022-04-07, 22:31:11 »
I have been spending a while getting the hang of the basic settings, These are the ones I have been using for a while now. (Attached Below) There have been a few questions that have popped up to me...

1. What Noise limit would be best for a final render (Mainly used in architectural renders shown on screens)

2. I have been using 2.0 sharping, is there typically a better amount to use?

3. I have been rendering at 3000x1688. This seams to be rendering quickly for me (Renders taking 20mins to an hour in some cases) This there a better size people would recommend.

I am trying to get a cleaner and sharper image that will improve my workflow!

Any help would be massively appreciated and help alot!

Thank you both so much for the help! Seams to be working very well when I plug the glossy map in (Image below)

I'm trying to build a simple library of good quality materials for future jobs so this info helps alot!

I would recommend the tutorial videos on our YouTube channel for getting started:

https://www.youtube.com/c/CoronaRenderer/videos

Check out the video for various materials creation.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for this, really helps.

I have been working with using some textures from viz people and trying to get my head around the slots for both Physical materials and Legacy. For a typical build like the ones below what would be best to use?

Also would the maps be in the correct slots for these materials, if not can anybody show me the best way? (Sorry about all the questions, still learning!)

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but dose anyone have a typical build up of materials? Struggling to find a example of what slots to put each map into
(eg, AO into what slot, Reflection, Etc...)

Thanks!

[Max] I need help! / Re: Sketchup to 3DS Max workflow
« on: 2021-11-18, 11:47:23 »
I don't model is Sketchup often, but my approach would to leave off any finer detailed modeling like filleted or chamfered edges, and apply those in Max. Use SU to get your basic masses/volumes figured out, import to 3dsMax, and then use 3dsMax to give the detail.

Thanks! I tend to build mainly the walls and 'blocky' type objects in SketchUp then then add the details in Max. Ill keep trying different techniques!

Dose anyone model in SketchUp and import into 3ds after?

I have been modelling in SketchUp for a while and want to get the full workflow from SketchUp to max. When I do a simple import it works fine until I start to use chamfer edges and other commands. Is there a way to clean up the SketchUp files once in max?

Any help would be hugely appreciated!
